Function First Therapy Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team in a remote capacity. The use of electronic health record systems such as AVATAR will be integral to your daily operations, enabling efficient documentation and care coordination.

• Conduct comprehensive mental health evaluations through structured interviews and assessments, ensuring accurate documentation from the initial consultation through treatment completion.
• Design personalized intervention and recovery plans that consider the unique circumstances of individuals, couples, families, and groups.
• Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing a range of therapeutic modalities suited to client needs.
• Regularly monitor and document client progress throughout their treatment plan, adjusting strategies as necessary based on client feedback and outcomes.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, exchanging insights and developing coordinated care strategies to enhance patient engagement and recovery.
• Engage in follow-up care in collaboration with psychiatrists and healthcare providers for clients requiring hospitalization or specialized support.
• Proactively identify and address potential barriers to recovery, fostering a safe space for clients and their families.
• Assist family members and primary caregivers in navigating mental health challenges and understanding treatment processes, thereby promoting a supportive home environment.

Your role will encompass serving a diverse clientele, including individuals facing anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, and relational issues. This requires sensitivity to varying cultural backgrounds and an understanding of the unique barriers that different populations might face in accessing mental health care.

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• Current and unrestricted licensure as an LMFT, LPC, or LCSW in the state of Virginia.
• Successful completion of the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
• A minimum of two years of relevant experience in mental health counseling.
• Familiarity with electronic health record systems, preferably AVATAR, to ensure efficient clinical documentation and progress tracking.
• Demonstrated understanding of common physical and emotional health conditions, along with experience in addressing addiction disorders.
• Awareness of best practices as outlined by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of building rapport with clients and professionals alike.
• A supportive, empathetic demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills essential for fostering therapeutic relationships.

While not mandatory, candidates with additional training in trauma-informed care, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), or family systems therapy are encouraged to apply. Familiarity with integrative care models and mental health policies will also be advantageous.

We offer a competitive annual salary ranging from $80,000 to $100,000, commensurate with experience, along with a generous sign-on bonus.
