Job description

Construction Project Manager Water/Wastewater

Compensation: $140,000 $240,000 base + per diem/LOA (for travel roles) + comprehensive benefits
Locations: Multiple office locations across CA, CO, and ID or project-based assignments nationwide (federal/travel team)
Start Date: Immediate

Overview

We are seeking experienced Construction Project Managers (PMs and Sr. PMs) to support a growing portfolio of water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the western U.S. and on federal projects nationwide.

These roles are available in two primary formats:

  • Office-Based Roles: Supporting regional and local projects out of one of our established offices (listed below), with limited travel depending on project needs
  • Traveling Federal Team: Supporting complex, remote, or federally funded projects across the U.S., often on a rotation schedule with per diem, housing, and travel support provided

This is an opportunity to join a high-performing team delivering critical infrastructure projects ranging from municipal upgrades to complex, logistically challenging installations.

Must-Have Qualifications
  • Proven project management experience delivering water and/or wastewater construction projects from preconstruction through commissioning and closeout
  • Strong understanding of mechanical/process systems, including equipment installation, startup, and commissioning coordination
  • Demonstrated success managing:
    • Project budgets, forecasting, and cost control
    • Change management processes
    • Project schedules and procurement workflows
  • High level of administrative rigor, including documentation, submittals, RFIs, inspections, and compliance tracking
  • Strong communication and coordination skills across internal teams, clients, subcontractors, and vendors
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience on federal projects with strict compliance, documentation, and billing requirements
  • Background working for a general contractor and/or subcontractor in public works or industrial environments
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (PE license a plus)
  • Experience supporting:
    • Remote or travel-based project teams
    • Rotation schedules, per diem, and field logistics
  • Experience on projects ranging from $5M to $30M+, including multi-phase scopes
  • Experience working in challenging environments (remote sites, restricted access, complex logistics)
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead execution of water/wastewater construction projects from planning through commissioning and closeout
  • Develop and manage comprehensive project plans covering:
    • Scope
    • Schedule
    • Procurement
    • Staffing and logistics (especially for remote/travel roles)
  • Oversee commissioning to ensure systems operate safely and meet design and acceptance criteria
  • Manage financial performance including:
    • Budgeting and forecasting
    • Cost-to-complete tracking
    • Risk and contingency planning
  • Lead change management from identification through execution
  • Maintain high-quality project documentation to ensure compliance and timely payment
  • Partner with field teams to uphold strong safety standards and culture
  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Manage procurement and vendor relationships to meet project timelines
  • Proactively solve logistical and sequencing challenges, particularly on complex or remote projects
  • Provide clear reporting on schedule, cost, risks, and key decisions
