Job description

Job Title: Project Manager Engineer Location: Denver, CO Type: 12 month Contract Compensation: $64.00–$66.00 Work Model: Hybrid – onsite and remote

Responsibilities

  • Manage capital engineering projects from initiation through completion, supporting base capital projects at existing generation facilities or strategic initiatives involving renewable energy systems and large infrastructure upgrades.
  • Lead full lifecycle project management including scope development, execution, and closeout.
  • Validate project justification and ensure stakeholder requirements are incorporated into scope.
  • Manage project budget, schedule, quality, and safety performance.
  • Coordinate procurement activities, including hiring engineering consultants, contractors, and ordering materials/equipment.
  • Oversee project execution and conduct periodic field visits to monitor progress.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements for vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Review and support design documentation and engineering drawings.
  • Conduct vendor/shop inspections and witness equipment testing when needed.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, environmental, sourcing, project controls, and engineering teams.
  • Facilitate project closeout and transition to operations teams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related discipline)
  • 5–7+ years of engineering experience
  • Minimum 2+ years of project management experience
  • Experience in utility, energy, or oil & gas industries preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP (preferred)
  • Preferred Certifications: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam completion, Project Management Professional (PMP), Professional Engineer (PE) (beneficial for long-term growth)
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and align stakeholders
  • Highly organized with strong prioritization and multitasking ability
  • Self-driven with initiative and accountability
  • Experience working in a matrixed organization
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • On-Site work environment with flexible hours, regular travel to plant sites in and around Denver, occasional travel outside the greater Denver area and vendor locations
  • Valid driver’s license required
