The Employment and Litigation Paralegal will assist Employment Law and HR teams by providing strategicsupportonlabor and employment matters and litigation, particularly on reporting of legal matters.This position worksdirectly withLegal, Human Resources,Compliance andEthicsand other departments, as well as outside counsel across the world. This role requiresattention to detail, knowledge, theability to collaborate with others and also work autonomously with minimal oversight.The successful candidate must have experience with basic USlabor andemployment lawsand other relevant experience.

WhatYou'llDo:

  • Work with internal and external counsel for regularlitigationcase updates and handle such information on the Company's legal case management system.

  • Work with VPLegal,Financeand others to prepare requiredlitigationreports and analysisfor internal and external partners.

  • Respond to subpoenas and other similar requests directed to the Company for employee records/data.

  • Assistwith labor and employment litigation, includingmaintainingmatter calendars, help with organizing,gatheringand coordinating document production, compliance with document preservation requirements (hold notices), and responding to electronic discovery obligations related to litigation and government investigations and/or inquiries.

  • Support internal and external counsel with scheduling andcoordinating ofinterviewsofcurrent and former Company personnel.

  • Assistattorneys inimplementingterms of settlement agreementsincluding payments to former employees and other third parties(e.g.law firms).

  • Handle Amex GBT Hotline, centralized policy resources, and provide reports, as needed.

  • Work with HR Operations and Facilities teams to ensure compliance with workplace postings andnoticesrequirements.

  • Work with HR Operations and Talent Acquisitionon applicable Affirmative Action Plans (AAPs) in the US, as needed.

  • Assistwith drafting basiclabor andemployment documents for review byEmploymentLaw team and responding to questions from Human Resourcesregardingissues on policies and other matters.

  • Stay informedaboutcurrentUS and internationallabor and employmentlaws and provideperiodic legal updates to theHumanResources team,atthe direction ofmembers of the Legal Team.

  • Maintain Employment Law and other training schedules andassistindevelopmentof legal presentations, as needed.

  • Serve as a representative of the Employment Law team on Company projects and initiatives as well as occasional back up to othercolleagueson the Legal and Human Resources teams.

WhatWe'reLooking For:

  • Strong litigation background, particularly in employment law and preferably outside the US.Familiarity withlabor and employment law in theUS;knowledge of labor and employment law in otherjurisdictions highly preferred.

  • Strong consideration to candidate withpreviousemploymentand/orparalegal experience at a law firm or other transferable paralegal training or experience.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to balance multiple projects, meet established deadlines and handle change as business needs require.

  • Proficient digital literacy including e-mail, recordkeeping, routine database activity, word processing,spreadsheetand externalspecialityplatforms (litigation management, etc.)

  • Strong computer research and investigation skills. Excellent legal research and legal writing skills.

  • Paralegal certificate, with at least 3-5 years related employment lawexperience;or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Due to business needs, candidates based in Eastern timezone highly preferred.

The US national base salary range for this position is from

$72,100.00 - $133,900.00

The national range provided includes the base salary that Amex GBT expects to pay for the role. Actual base salary will be based on factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location.
