General Function:

The Automotive Technical Training Program Manager (PM) provides strategic leadership, operational planning, and financial management for programs ranging in size from $2M to $10M annually. The PM leads a team of functional leaders to achieve organizational goals and customer objectives in the delivery of technical training programs. This position will oversee the day-to-day operations, set program objectives and roadmaps, manage risks and budgets, evaluate processes for continuous improvement, and cultivate new business opportunities with existing and potential clients. As a key representative of the company, this position will interface extensively with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders at the executive level.


Responsibilities

Specific Duties:

  • Leadership:
    • Define program vision, scope, objectives, and success criteria to align with customer stakeholders.
    • Lead cross-functional teams (learning technology, content development, delivery, operations, and training administration) to deliver operational plans and program roadmaps through implementation.
    • Drive stakeholder alignment and transparent communication across leadership and partner teams; run regular program governance (steering committees, executive updates).
    • Lead, direct, and develop a geographically dispersed team of project managers and front-line leaders including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, coaching, and professional development planning.
    • Set clear expectations, provide strategic coaching, actionable feedback, and conduct performance reviews to build capability and succession planning.
    • Measure training effectiveness and business outcomes (time-to-competency, certification pass rates, first-time fix rate, warranty spend, customer satisfaction) and iterate programs based on data.
  • Financial:
    • Utilize earned value management techniques for measuring project performance and progress
    • Manage program risks and opportunities
    • Full P&L responsibilities for assigned programs
  • Business Development:
    • Source and qualify new leads through outbound prospecting, networking, tradeshow events, referrals and partnerships.
    • Develop and deliver presentations on training solution strategies, product and service capabilities, and new learning technologies for existing and potential clients.
    • Conduct market research to identify customer needs, competitive landscape and product-market fit.
    • Collaborate with and support business development and marketing teams in key pursuits.
    • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • 7 – 10 years automotive technician experience in an automotive repair facility.
  • 5 years delivering training or leadership presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience in consultative selling, prospecting, and closing skills.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering blended learning programs and certifications; familiarity with adult learning principles and instructional design
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and managing employee performance, including remote workforce oversight.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in stakeholder collaboration, diplomacy, negotiation, and executive communication
  • Proven experience managing complex, cross-functional initiatives end-to-end.

  • Experience with diagnostic scan tools, oscilloscopes, data recorders, and recalibration tools.
