Job description


The Clinical Education Program Consultant supports the design, development, standardization, and administration of clinical education and competency programs across the organization. The position partners with Clinical Education leadership, clinical leaders, subject-matter experts, and other stakeholders to translate regulatory requirements, organizational standards, evidence-informed practices, and identified performance needs into clear, sustainable competency frameworks and education processes. The role emphasizes program development, documentation, and continuous improvement and will function in a remote capacity.
  • Leads and supports the development, revision, and standardization of clinical competency frameworks, competency assessment tools, validation criteria, checklists, and related documentation.
  • Partners with clinical leaders and subject-matter experts to define expected performance standards, validation methods, evaluator qualifications, reassessment requirements, and documentation practices.
  • Reviews existing competencies and education requirements to identify duplication, gaps, outdated content, inconsistent practices, and opportunities to consolidate or streamline processes.
  • Conducts research and environmental reviews of regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, professional guidance, organizational policies, and leading practices relevant to assigned programs.
  • Coordinates project plans, stakeholder meetings, deliverables, approvals, implementation activities, and follow-up actions for clinical education and competency initiatives.
  • Provides consultation and technical guidance to leaders, educators, and subject-matter experts regarding competency design, assessment methodology, documentation, and program administration.
  • Facilitates stakeholder work sessions and project meetings as needed; may develop supporting communications, presentations, job aids, or implementation resources.
  • Performs other duties and special projects consistent with the purpose and level of the position.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, allied health, education, healthcare administration, organizational development, or a related field; an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in clinical education, competency management, healthcare program development, clinical operations, quality, accreditation, or a closely related area.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or administering competency-based education, assessment tools, clinical education programs, or standardized healthcare processes.
  • Experience coordinating complex projects involving multiple clinical and operational stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Graduate degree in nursing, education, healthcare administration, organizational development, or a related field.
  • Current or previously held professional healthcare license or certification relevant to the organization's clinical services.
  • Experience in a hospital, ambulatory, public health, or integrated healthcare environment.
  • Experience with regulatory or accreditation requirements, learning management systems, competency platforms, document-control practices, data reporting, or process improvement methodologies.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of competency-based education, adult-learning principles, assessment methods, program evaluation, and clinical education administration.
  • Ability to translate complex clinical, regulatory, and operational requirements into clear standards, tools, workflows, and implementation plans.
  • Strong consultation, facilitation, project-management, analytical, technical-writing, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to build effective partnerships, navigate competing priorities, and influence outcomes without direct authority.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate, organized, and audit-ready program records.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends and risks, and present practical recommendations to varied audiences.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and administer relevant learning, reporting, and document-management systems.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and appropriately handle confidential or sensitive information.
