Overview

We are seeking a Senior Legal IT Business Analyst to support and scale our Legal Services technology portfolio.

This role will drive both application support and strategic initiatives, acting as the bridge between Legal stakeholders, IT Applications, and external vendors.

The ideal candidate brings strong business analysis, enterprise application ownership, and vendor coordination experience, with exposure to governance and delivery of technology solutions in regulated environments.

Required Experience

  • 5–8+ years as: IT Business Analyst or Application Analyst / Functional Consultant
  • Strong experience in: Requirements gathering & documentation, Stakeholder engagement across business and IT, Vendor coordination and solution delivery
  • Experience with SaaS and vendor-managed applications
  • Ability to operate across: Run (support) and Change (projects / transformation)

Preferred Experience

  • Legal systems (CLM, eBilling, legal operations tools, IP systems)
  • Experience working in: Governed environments (compliance, legal, finance, or regulated industries)
  • Exposure to: Data governance / records management, Evaluation and rollout of advanced or emerging technologies under governance frameworks
  • Experience supporting application portfolio management / rationalization

Legal Application Ownership (Run)

  • Support a portfolio of Legal applications (e.g., eBilling, Contract Management, Board Management, IP/Patent tools)
  • Act as functional IT owner / primary point of contact
  • Coordinate: Enhancements, upgrades, incident resolution, Vendor support and SLAs
  • Ensure compliance with security, data governance, and regulatory requirements

Business Analysis & Delivery (Change)

  • Gather, document, and manage: Business requirements, Functional specifications, User stories
  • Translate Legal requirements into scalable and supportable IT solutions
  • Support: Testing (UAT), Deployment and business adoption
  • Maintain a prioritized backlog aligned to business value

Strategic Initiatives

Lead or support delivery of key programs, including:

  • Legal Billing / eBilling solution
  • Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) particularly for CMMC compliance
  • Legal data governance and records management initiatives

Additionally:

  • Support governance, assessment, and controlled rollout of advanced solutions like AI, including:
    • Vendor-provided legal technology solutions
    • Internally developed or extended applications
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, security, and responsible AI governance practices

Vendor & Solution Management

  • Act as bridge between Legal, IT Applications, and Sourcing/Procurement
  • Support: Vendor selection and onboarding, Statement of Work (SOW) definition
  • Oversee delivery across: Vendor-managed SaaS solutions, Configured platforms and internally developed extensions
  • Drive accountability on scope, timelines, and outcomes

Application Rationalization & Governance

  • Support application inventory and rationalization efforts
  • Evaluate: Business fit, Redundancy, Cost vs. value
  • Recommend consolidation or optimization opportunities
  • Contribute to service governance, intake, and prioritization frameworks

Seniority Level

Senior (Independent Contributor / Lead BA equivalent)

  • Expected to operate with minimal supervision
  • Acts as de facto service lead for Legal IT
