Position Summary

The Manager of ERA Operations is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end management of Electronic Remittance Advice processing, including the timely downloading, reconciliation, and posting of ERAs into the organization's Health Information Billing System. A key component of this role is the leadership and management of an overseas operations team, ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently, and in alignment with organizational standards. This manager will drive performance optimization across all team members while maintaining compliance and supporting seamless revenue cycle operations.

Key Responsibilities

Overseas Team Management:

  • Directly manage and oversee a remote overseas ERA operations team, ensuring daily accountability and productivity
  • Establish clear performance expectations, workflows, and quality standards for all offshore team members
  • Monitor individual and team performance metrics, providing regular feedback, coaching, and development
  • Optimize workload distribution across team members to maximize efficiency and minimize processing backlogs
  • Conduct regular team meetings, one-on-ones, and performance reviews to maintain engagement and alignment
  • Identify skill gaps and coordinate training to ensure team proficiency in ERA processes and billing systems
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for overseas team issues, disputes, and operational challenges
  • Coordinate across time zones to maintain seamless communication and continuity of operations

 ERA Operations:

  • Manage and oversee daily ERA download and posting operations across all payers.
  • Ensure accurate and timely posting of payments, adjustments, and denials into the billing system
  • Monitor ERA file transmissions and resolve failed, missing, or rejected files promptly
  • Establish and enforce standard operating procedures for ERA workflows
  • Partner with IT and clearinghouse vendors to troubleshoot EDI/835 transaction issues
  • Analyze posting trends, error rates, and payer discrepancies to drive continuous process improvements
  • Collaborate with billing, coding, and denial management teams to ensure seamless revenue cycle flow
  • Develop and present performance metrics and operational reports to senior leadership
  • Maintain compliance with payer contracts, HIPAA regulations, and internal audit standards

 Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare revenue cycle, with a focus on ERA/payment posting operations
  • 2+ years in a leadership or management capacity, preferably managing remote or overseas teams
  • Demonstrated ability to manage, develop, and optimize the performance of distributed teams
  • Proficiency with Health Information Billing Software (e.g., Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, AdvancedMD)
  • Strong knowledge of EDI 835 transaction sets and clearinghouse platforms
  • Familiarity with payer portals, ERA enrollment, and ERA reconciliation processes
  • Experience managing cross-timezone operations and remote team communication tools

 Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field
  • Experience managing offshore or Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) teams
  • Experience with large-scale or multi-facility billing environments
  • Knowledge of denial management and appeals workflows

$90,000—$130,000 USD
