What is a remote process simulation job?

Remote process simulation jobs involve using computer software to model, analyze, and optimize real-world processes, such as manufacturing systems or chemical plants, from a remote location. Professionals in these roles use simulation tools to predict outcomes, test scenarios, and improve efficiency without physically interacting with the system. These jobs often require strong analytical skills, proficiency with simulation software, and the ability to communicate results to stakeholders. Remote process simulation positions are common in industries like engineering, manufacturing, and energy, allowing professionals to collaborate with teams across different locations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote process simulation engineer?

To thrive as a Remote Process Simulation Engineer, you need a strong background in chemical or process engineering, along with experience in modeling and simulation techniques. Proficiency with simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS, MATLAB, or Simulink, as well as familiarity with remote collaboration tools, is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for success in this role. These competencies enable accurate process modeling, effective teamwork, and the ability to troubleshoot and optimize complex systems remotely.

What are some common challenges faced when working as a remote process simulation specialist, and how can they be addressed?

Remote Process Simulation specialists often encounter challenges related to effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and access to real-time data. Since the role involves modeling and optimizing industrial or manufacturing processes remotely, ensuring clear communication and timely feedback with on-site engineers is crucial. Utilizing collaborative software platforms and maintaining regular virtual meetings can help bridge the gap. Additionally, establishing secure and reliable remote connections to process data ensures accurate simulations and results.

Job description

ABOUT THE TEAM

The Maneuver Dominance team at Anduril develops operationally relevant, multi-asset autonomy. Omen is Anduril's hover-to-cruise autonomous air vehicle (AAV) that packs the endurance, payload, and mission flexibility of much larger airplanes into a novel runway-independent Group 3 platform. Omen can operate from ship decks, beaches, or remote island clearings, providing true runway independence and freedom of maneuver across defense and civilian domains. Omen is the first tail-sitter aircraft with a mass-production contract, with an order of 50 systems representing a decisive investment that anchors production and accelerates the development of future systems.

ABOUT THE JOB

Anduril is seeking a Senior Robotics Software Engineer to join the Omen Team at our Boston, MA office. In this role, you will be responsible for solving a wide variety of problems involving networking, autonomy, systems integration, robotics, perception, and more, while making pragmatic engineering tradeoffs along the way. Your will ensure that Anduril products seamlessly work together to achieve a variety of critical outcomes. This will require strong systems-level knowledge and experience. If you are someone who possess a "Whatever It Takes" mindset-executing in an expedient, scalable, and pragmatic way while keeping the mission top-of-mind and making sound engineering decisions then this role is for you.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the mission autonomy systems and services that are deployed to customers.
  • Write code to improve products and scale the mission capability to more customers.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams to plan, build, and test complex functionality.
  • Create and analyze metrics that are leveraged for debugging and monitoring.
  • Triage issues, root cause failures, and coordinate next-steps.
  • Partner with end-users to turn needs into features while balancing user experience with engineering constraints.
  • Travel up to 25% of the time to build, test, and deploy capabilities in the real world.
CORE REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong engineering background from industry or school, ideally in areas/fields such as Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics
  • 6+ years of professional industry experience working with C++ or Rust programming languages.
  • Experience building software solutions involving significant amounts of data processing and analysis.
  • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases.
  • A desire to work on critical software that has a real-world impact.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 25% for testing and demonstrations.
  • Eligible to obtain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong background with focus in Physics, Mathematics, and/or Motion Planning to inform modeling & simulation (M&S) and physical systems.
  • Developing and testing multi-agent autonomous systems and deploying in real-world environments.
  • Feature and algorithm development with an understanding of behavior trees.
  • Developing software/hardware for flight systems and safety critical functionality.
  • Experience with distributed communication networks and message standards.
