Job description

The Opportunity:

Tetra Tech is adding an experienced Strategic Pursuit & Client Engagement Leader to support and drive continued growth across multiple business lines serving 16 U.S. offices. Reporting to the Marketing Manager, this leadership role combines strategic pursuit management, client engagement, capture planning, proposal leadership, and business development to help position Tetra Tech for continued success in the Power, Transmission, and Energy markets.

The successful candidate will lead high-impact pursuits, strengthen key client relationships, develop winning capture strategies, and leverage AI-enabled tools to enhance proposal quality, messaging, and production efficiency. This role partners closely with regional leadership, program managers, seller-doers, and technical teams to convert opportunities into successful project awards.

Essential Job Functions:

Strategic Pursuit & Proposal Leadership

  • Lead strategic, complex, and multidisciplinary pursuits from capture planning through proposal submission and interview.
  • Develop capture strategies, win themes, competitive positioning, and pursuit schedules.
  • Partner with the Marketing Manager to continuously improve proposal processes, capture planning, and pursuit tracking.
  • Apply AI-powered tools to enhance proposal strategy, content development, competitive intelligence, messaging, and production efficiency.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into compelling, client-focused proposals.
  • Lead interview preparation, presentation strategy, and coaching for technical teams.

Client Engagement & Business Development

  • Serve as a client engagement leader for priority accounts and strategic pursuits.
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with account managers and seller-doers to identify new opportunities and expand existing client relationships.
  • Support strategic account planning and client growth initiatives.
  • Participate in client meetings, conferences, industry events, and networking opportunities.
  • Promote Tetra Tech's capabilities and increase market visibility within the Power, Transmission, and Energy sectors.

Marketing Strategy & Innovation

  • Support development and execution of marketing strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Advance enterprise AI adoption across marketing and business development activities.
  • Utilize AI tools to improve market research, client targeting, proposal development, messaging, and operational efficiency.
  • Identify innovative approaches to improve pursuit success and overall marketing effectiveness.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Operations Managers, Program Managers, technical staff, and business development leaders across multiple offices.
  • Lead cross-functional pursuit teams while maintaining schedules and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
  • Mentor proposal professionals and technical contributors throughout the pursuit process.
  • Promote continuous improvement, accountability, collaboration, and quality.
  • Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, legislation, and industry standards.
  • Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
  • Additional duties as required.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Engineering, Science, or a related field.
  • 10+  years of experience in proposal management, capture management, business development, or strategic marketing.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional pursuits from capture through award.
  • Strong understanding of the Power, Transmission, Renewable Energy, Battery Storage, and Energy Infrastructure markets.
  • Experience developing capture strategies and leading proposal efforts for large, multidisciplinary pursuits.
  • Strong proficiency with AI tools supporting writing, research, graphics, competitive analysis, and workflow automation.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting demanding deadlines.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong client relationship management and business development experience.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • APMP and/or SMPS certification.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Illustrator, and Acrobat Pro.
  • Experience supporting federal, utility, engineering, or environmental consulting organizations.
  • Experience leading interview preparation and executive presentation coaching.
  • Experience implementing AI technologies within proposal or marketing organizations.

Compensation:

Pay commensurate with experience.

Pay Range: $140,000-$170,000 yearly

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
