Job description

Position Summary

The Device Clinic RN / Electrophysiology Program Coordinator is responsible for the clinical and operational coordination of the Cardiology Device and Electrophysiology Program, including remote cardiac device monitoring, in-office device management, alert triage, patient education, and workflow oversight.

This role serves as a central clinical resource for cardiac implantable electronic device (CIED) management, supporting electrophysiology and general cardiology providers through coordinated patient care, timely review and escalation of device findings, and development of efficient, scalable workflows within a growing device and arrhythmia program.

The RN will collaborate closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, device technicians, and clinical support staff to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality care for patients with pacemakers, ICDs, loop recorders, CRT devices, and related cardiac technologies.

Essential Responsibilities

Clinical Device Management

  • Review and triage remote cardiac device transmissions and alerts in collaboration with device technicians and physicians
  • Identify clinically actionable findings and appropriately escalate urgent or abnormal events
  • Coordinate follow-up care related to arrhythmias, device findings, and patient symptoms
  • Assist with in-office device interrogations and device clinic workflows
  • Support management of pacemakers, ICDs, CRT devices, loop recorders, and remote monitoring systems
  • Provide patient education regarding device function, monitoring expectations, and symptom reporting

Workflow Coordination & Program Oversight

  • Assist in development and standardization of device clinic workflows and escalation protocols
  • Coordinate communication between device clinic staff, physicians, APPs, and patients
  • Monitor workflow efficiency and assist in identifying opportunities for operational improvement
  • Support implementation of Epic/MyChart workflows and documentation standards related to remote monitoring and electrophysiology services
  • Assist in ensuring timely documentation and appropriate billing capture related to remote monitoring and device management services

Patient Care Coordination

  • Respond to patient questions and symptom concerns related to cardiac devices and arrhythmia management
  • Coordinate follow-up appointments, testing, and provider evaluations as indicated
  • Participate in patient triage and symptom assessment
  • Collaborate with providers regarding medication concerns, arrhythmia management, and procedural follow-up care

Quality & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Support compliance with manufacturer recommendations, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies
  • Assist with quality improvement initiatives related to device monitoring and patient outcomes

Qualifications

Required

  • Current RN license in the State of Connecticut
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams

Preferred

  • Prior experience in cardiology, electrophysiology, device clinic, telemetry, or cardiac procedural care
  • Experience with cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs)
  • Experience with remote patient monitoring platforms
  • Familiarity with Epic EMR and MyChart workflows
  • Experience developing or improving clinical workflows and operational processes
