What is a remote principal electrical engineer?

A Remote Principal Electrical Engineer is a highly experienced electrical engineer who leads complex engineering projects and teams while working from a remote location. They are responsible for designing, developing, and overseeing electrical systems or products, ensuring technical excellence and compliance with relevant standards. In addition to their technical expertise, they often mentor junior engineers, provide strategic direction, and collaborate with cross-functional teams virtually. The remote aspect allows them to perform all these duties without being physically present at the company’s office or job sites.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote principal electrical engineer?

Thriving as a Remote Principal Electrical Engineer requires deep expertise in electrical engineering principles, project management experience, and typically a bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering along with Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
