Geisinger is proud to offer a full time Virtual Inpatient RN a $30.40 minimum hiring rate with increased rates for experienced individuals! 3 years of Med/Surg experience is strongly preferred! This position has the capability to be remote (work from home) after the completion of ONSITE orientation in Danville, PA.
Job Duties
Assesses plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates nursing activities to meet the needs of the patient. Promotes adaptive responses of patient and family to achieve the highest level of patient care, promote safety, and maximize patient satisfaction. Exhibits compassionate care during patient-nurse interactions. Coordinates patient care and interaction of staff. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in their assigned nursing unit.
Performs or in collaboration with bedside staff completes assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
Addresses physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patient and family throughout the continuum of care.
Acts as a liaison between hospital staff and patient/family to provide optimal care and additional monitoring for patients during routine care and emergent conditions.
Formulates, coordinates, and provides plan of care as established in unit standards including, patient and family education, family needs and discharge planning throughout hospitalization with members of the interdisciplinary team.
Provides remote care including, assessments, education, and care coordination according to policy and procedure.
Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions and revises plan of care in collaboration with the inpatient nurse based upon patient response to interventions.
Initiates collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members and acts, to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs.
Actively participates as a team member working toward team goals of the unit and organization and is accountable for unit and system specific metrics.
Actively participates in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.
Collects, monitors, and analyzes patient and family data for the purpose of assessment and care management.
Incorporates evidence-based practice in the development, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care provided.
Assumes responsibility for identifying processes or systems that could potentially lead to errors and adverse events and participate in problem solving as appropriate.

Position Details
The Virtual Nurse Program offers flexible care for patients in healthcare's evolving landscape. This program empowers experienced nurses to offer remote, systemwide support, through a 24/7 virtual nurse center. Virtual registered nurses (VRNs) handle admissions, discharges and virtual rounds, for medical surgical units, which enables bedside nurses to prioritize hands-on patient care.
Schedule is .9 FTE (36 hours)/Nights (7pm-7am). Every other weekend/Every other holiday rotation.
