Job description

Compensation: $150,000-$200,000 per year
Location: United States - Remote or Omaha, NE - Hybrid

The job:
As a Senior Product Manager at Buildertrend on our Platform team, you'll shape the foundational systems that every product team and every customer depends on. You'll own platform capabilities like our design system, horizontal mobile app functionality and identity/authorization strategy. You'll partner closely with engineering to balance reliability, security and scalability against the pace of new feature delivery. Success in this role means translating deeply technical trade-offs into clear priorities and making sure platform investments show up as real impact for every other team at Buildertrend and ultimately for our builders.

What you will do:

  • Define a clear product direction for Platform, own the roadmap and prioritize work based on reliability, security and long-term scalability.

  • Partner closely with engineering to evaluate technical trade-offs, including architecture decisions, technical debt and build-vs-buy calls.

  • Own authentication and identity workflows, ensuring secure, reliable access across Buildertrend's products.

  • Guide mobile infrastructure investments that support performance and stability across iOS and Android experiences.

  • Build tight feedback loops with internal product teams who depend on Platform, treating them as your primary customers.

  • Validate opportunities through focused experiments and technical spikes, using data to guide build decisions.

  • Establish success metrics tied to reliability, uptime and developer velocity, and adjust strategies based on performance.

  • Partner with security and infrastructure teams to ensure platform work meets Buildertrend's standards.

  • Communicate technical trade-offs clearly to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Get hands on with AI tools, including Claude, Lovable and CoPilot to accelerate prototyping, analysis, documentation, and experimentation.

Who you are and what you need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

  • 5+ years of product management experience in B2B software, including ownership of platform, horizontal, or internal tools products.

  • Proven record of delivering products that improved reliability, performance or scalability.

  • Ability to drive large initiatives, working across teams and organizations to implement change.

  • Strong product judgment and the ability to connect technical decisions into business outcomes.

  • Ability to make clear decisions in complex or ambiguous situations.

  • Systems thinker who understands end-to-end infrastructure and dependencies.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially translating technical concepts for non-technical audiences.

  • Comfortable engaging directly with engineers on architecture, APIs and technical trade-offs.

  • Comfortable using provided tools (full Claude Code access etc.) to explore the code base, pressure test technical tradeoffs, and challenge your own thinking while maintaining full ownership of AI assisted outputs.

We are giving you:

  • Exceptional health packages, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, plus life insurance and short- and long-term disability benefits

  • A 401(k) plan with Buildertrend matching contributions to help you plan for the future

  • Generous paid time off, 11 paid holidays, plus personal days to make sure you have time to recharge

  • Parental leave and paid sabbaticals to support you during life's big moments

  • Volunteer time off - because giving back matters

  • Wellness program and onsite fitness center to keep you feeling your best

  • Opportunities for hybrid or remote work to give you the flexibility you need

  • Technology reimbursement to help cover costs for the tech you need to do your job from home

  • Free daily lunches when you're at our HQ office, plus monthly events to connect with your team
