Remote Power Platform Architect information

What is a Remote Power Platform Architect?

A Remote Power Platform Architect is a professional who designs and implements solutions using Microsoft Power Platform technologies—such as Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power Virtual Agents—while working from a remote location. They collaborate with clients and teams to create scalable, secure, and efficient applications that automate business processes and improve data insights. In addition to technical expertise, they provide strategic guidance, ensure best practices, and may oversee the integration of Power Platform tools with other enterprise systems.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Power Platform Architect?

A Remote Power Platform Architect requires deep expertise in Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI), solution design, and a solid understanding of data integration, typically backed by relevant Microsoft certifications. Familiarity with Azure, Dataverse, Dynamics 365, and tools like Visual Studio Code is important, along with experience in cloud architecture. Strong communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills help in understanding client needs and leading distributed teams. These abilities are crucial for designing scalable, effective solutions that drive digital transformation in remote or hybrid environments.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote Power Platform Architects, and how can they be managed effectively?

Remote Power Platform Architects often face challenges related to communication and collaboration, especially when working with globally distributed teams and clients. Managing complex requirements and aligning stakeholders can be more difficult without in-person interactions. To address these challenges, effective use of collaboration tools (like Microsoft Teams and Azure DevOps), clear documentation practices, and regular virtual check-ins are essential. Establishing strong relationships with both technical and non-technical team members helps ensure smooth project delivery and fosters a collaborative remote work environment.

Job description

Company:
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
Job Area:
Engineering Group, Engineering Group > Systems Engineering
General Summary:
Qualcomm's Data Center team is developing high-performance, energy-efficient server solutions for data center applications. We are looking for highly talented, innovative, and teamwork-oriented engineers to join our cutting-edge server platform development efforts.
Our Mission
We are dedicated to transforming the data center industry by developing next-generation server computing platforms based on Qualcomm's server-class SoC technology. By joining our team, you will collaborate with world-class engineers to create innovative solutions that push the limits of performance, energy efficiency, and scalability. Our work spans reference hardware platforms, design validation, firmware bring-up, and customer enablement - delivering complete platform solutions that include hardware designs, reference boards, user guides, and technical documentation.
Position: Server Platform Architect
As a Staff or Sr. Staff Server Platform Architect, you will own hands-on design and technical execution of high-performance server platforms, working in close collaboration with the Server Platform Architect. You will drive design delivery across hardware, signal integrity, and platform bring-up - translating architecture direction into working silicon and system-level solutions. You will interface directly with cross-functional engineering teams including SoC, software, firmware, packaging, and SI/PI, and will be a key technical contributor in taking platforms from concept through production milestones.
Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with internal SoC, packaging, firmware, and software teams to ensure platform designs meet system integration and performance targets

  • Deliver top-tier test and reference platforms to both internal teams and external customers

  • Collaborate with customers to guide and support the development of custom platforms leveraging Qualcomm CPUs

  • Partner with internal teams, marketing, end-customers, OEMs, and suppliers to create platform roadmaps and detailed requirement documentation

  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and oversight across all platform functions (motherboard/hardware, socket, mechanical, thermal, electrical, operations, documentation, etc.) during platform design-in and bring-up phases

  • Participate in partner and supplier engagements on emerging technologies including memory, storage, networking, and power delivery

  • Own and maintain platform design documentation, hardware specifications, and bring-up procedures for assigned subsystems

  • Prepare and present clear and comprehensive technical documentation and reports tailored to the needs of stakeholders, including engineering teams, senior management, customers, and suppliers

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field

  • 8+ years of experience in hardware architecture and design for server or data center environments

  • Strong expertise in signal integrity, power integrity, and high-speed analog and digital designs.

  • Deep proficiency in DDR5, PCIe Gen5/6/7, Ethernet, SerDes, and platform management protocols including I3C, I2C, SPI, MDIO, and SMBUS

  • Hands-on experience with lab and debug tools including high-speed oscilloscopes, differential probes, VNAs, and logic analyzers

  • Strong technical documentation skills with excellent written and verbal communication

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field

  • 12+ years of experience in hardware design for data center environments

  • In-depth knowledge of data center architectures, spanning from edge computing to hyperscale infrastructures

  • Demonstrated experience supporting platform design-in at OEMs, CMs, or hyperscaler customers

  • Proven success in delivering scalable solutions for hyperscale and enterprise data centers, including experience with OCP initiatives

  • Familiarity with CXL protocol and composable/disaggregated infrastructure concepts

  • Experience with OCP / ORV3 platform standards and hyperscale deployment requirements

  • Familiarity with advanced memory module architectures such as SOCAMM or equivalent

  • Experience with chiplet-based or advanced packaging platform designs

  • Expertise in multi-phase DC-DC power supply design and magnetics for high-power server platforms

  • Familiarity with design tools such as OrCAD and Allegro

  • Working knowledge of Linux, Python, and C++

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
