A Remote PMP Project Manager is a professional who manages projects from a remote location and holds a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. This role involves leading project teams, coordinating tasks, managing budgets and timelines, and ensuring project objectives are met— all while working outside of a traditional office setting. The PMP credential, issued by the Project Management Institute (PMI), demonstrates advanced knowledge and experience in project management best practices. Remote PMP Project Managers use digital tools and communication platforms to collaborate with team members and stakeholders. Their responsibilities are similar to on-site project managers, but they require strong self-management and virtual communication skills.

What does a Remote PMP Project Manager do?

A remote PMP project manager is a certified project management professional. Your duties are to coordinate a team of workers, schedule meetings, identify goals and milestones, and ensure that the project team meets the deadline. Because you work from home, you telecommute to coordinate with your team. Depending on your employer, you may have significant input regarding your team members. Remote PMP project manager positions are available in various industries such as software/technology, health care, pharmaceuticals, and media.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote PMP Project Manager, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote PMP Project Manager, you need a strong background in project management principles, experience leading cross-functional teams, and an active Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Familiarity with project management software such as Microsoft Project, Jira, or Asana, along with remote collaboration tools like Slack or Zoom, is typically required. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for managing virtual teams and stakeholders across different locations. These skills and qualifications ensure effective project delivery, stakeholder satisfaction, and the ability to overcome the unique challenges of remote project coordination.

What are some common challenges faced by Remote PMP Project Managers, and how can they effectively address them?

Remote PMP Project Managers often encounter challenges such as coordinating across time zones, maintaining clear communication, and fostering team engagement without face-to-face interaction. To address these, it's important to establish regular check-ins, leverage collaboration tools, and set clear expectations regarding deliverables and deadlines. Building trust and transparency by sharing updates and celebrating milestones can also help keep remote teams motivated and aligned. Adopting agile practices and being adaptable to changing project needs will further support successful remote project management.

Job description

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Project Manager who is equally at home in an executive boardroom, a client-facing workshop, a cross-functional sprint, and a conversation about AI-driven transformation. This is a senior, highly visible role at the intersection of strategy, technology, and delivery - built for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, wears many hats without losing focus, and genuinely believes that the best outcomes happen when smart people are aligned and empowered.

You will own and drive the most critical, complex, and high-impact programs across a diverse portfolio - partnering with senior leadership, client stakeholders, global engineering teams, and cross-functional team members to deliver outcomes that move the client's business forward. You will also serve as an organizational champion for AI, helping the team leverage emerging tools and capabilities to work smarter and deliver more value.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Program Leadership & Delivery

  • Drive end-to-end strategy, execution, and delivery of large-scale, client-critical programs across multiple workstreams
  • Lead program delivery timeline, budgets, and resource plans - keeping everything moving in fast-changing environments
  • Proactively manage risks, dependencies, escalations, and decisions across cross-functional programs
  • Drive accountability and alignment with senior client leadership on objectives, priorities, milestones, and success metrics
  • Jump in wherever needed - from facilitating a working session to unblocking a technical dependency to drafting an executive update

Client & Stakeholder Excellence

  • Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for executive leadership, clients, and cross-functional teams
  • Deliver clear, confident, and concise executive communications, status updates, and strategic presentations - tailored to the audience
  • Lead stakeholder alignment sessions, executive reviews, and program governance forums with polish and presence
  • Translate complex technical and operational realities into business language that drives decisions, not just awareness
  • Build strong, lasting relationships across client stakeholders and internal cross-functional global team

AI Championship & Innovation

  • Champion AI across Project Management day to day activities
  • Partner with technical teams to translate AI capabilities into real business value, scalable adoption, and first-in-class deliverables
  • Promote AI tools, frameworks, and best practices across project team; build internal confidence and fluency where it does not yet exist

Technical Fluency & Collaboration

  • Bridge the gap between global technical teams and onshore team members, ensuring both sides are heard, aligned, and moving together
  • Support technical problem-solving throughout the program lifecycle without needing to be the hands-on engineer
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product, and architecture teams on complex integrations, system design decisions, and technical trade-offs
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of modern technology ecosystems like cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), APIs, data pipelines, and digital infrastructure

Process Improvement & Team Development

  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline delivery processes, standardize best practices, and scale what works
  • Champion automation, efficiency, and continuous improvement across programs and the broader PMO practice
  • Mentor and elevate junior project and program managers - building team capabilities and raising the bar across the organization
  • Drive lessons learned and retrospective practices that make the next program better than the last
WHAT YOU BRING

Required

  • 10+ years of program/project management experience in complex, technology-driven environments
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale digital transformation, product, or cross-functional technology initiatives
  • Strong technical fluency - able to engage credibly with engineers and architects while translating outcomes for client audiences
  • Hands-on familiarity with AI/ML concepts, tools, and practical applications in a delivery or operations context
  • Expertise in Agile, Scrum, Kanban, hybrid, or iterative delivery approaches - and knowing when to use which
  • Exceptional client-facing skills: executive presence, crisp communication, and the ability to build trust quickly under pressure
  • Experience operating in fast-paced, ambiguous environments across business, operations, product, and technology teams

Preferred

  • Experience leading AI, data, or digital transformation programs from conception through adoption
  • Restaurant and hospitality experience is a plus
  • Miro, Microsoft office, slack, confluence, jira/ado experience a plus
  • Background in software engineering, data science, or technical product management
  • Relevant certifications: PMP, SAFe, Scrum Master, or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Technology, Computer Science, or related field
YOU WILL THRIVE HERE IF
  • You are equally comfortable in a client meeting, a technical architecture review, and an executive status call - and you read the room in all three
  • You see ambiguity as an opportunity, not an obstacle, and you move forward with clarity even when not everything is defined
  • You are a natural connector who brings people together, builds trust across silos, and leads with influence rather than authority
  • You get energized by complexity, not slowed down by it - and you have a knack for simplifying what others make complicated
  • You are genuinely curious about AI and emerging technology, and you have already started experimenting with how it can make your work better
  • You are a team player who rolls up your sleeves, covers the gaps, and never drops the ball - no matter whose name is on it
HOW SUCCESS IS MEASURED
  • On-time, on-budget delivery of high-impact programs with strong stakeholder alignment throughout
  • Measurable adoption and business impact of AI-driven initiatives and process improvements
  • Stakeholder and client satisfaction - from frontline teams to executive leadership
  • Continuous improvement in delivery quality, team efficiency, and PMO practice maturity
WHY THIS ROLE MATTERS

This is not a role for someone who wants to manage a checklist. It is for a senior leader who wants to drive transformation - who sees the connection between a well-run program and a client's customer experience, between a disciplined delivery process and a company's ability to grow. If you are the kind of person who brings calm to the chaos, brings clarity to the complex, and brings out the best in the people around you - this role was built for you.

Unsure if you check every box? Apply anyway. We'd love to understand your unique background and how your experience could make us even better.

Bottle Rocket is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all team members.
