Job DescriptionOverview

We are seeking a Senior I&C Engineer - Remote. This remote position is based out of our Oak Ridge, TN office.

Your role
  • This role requires a senior engineering professional responsible for designs, tests, installs, and maintenance of systems or equipment that monitor, control, and automate industrial processes or machinery.

  • This role will be responsible for the overall design and analysis of safety and non-safety related I&C systems for nuclear and commercial projects.

  • This role will regularly interface with the other technical disciplines (mechanical, nuclear, operations and electrical engineering teams) for I&C design and consultation having a significant impact on project.

  • This role will apply their extensive knowledge and experience, industry best practices, regulatory guidance, codes and standards, and good engineering judgment to ensure the design is compliant with International regulatory criteria and industry best practices.

  • Creates and reviews control system designs, including PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, for nuclear facilities.

  • Perform advanced performance analysis, identify faults, and resolve issues to ensure optimal plant operation.

  • Ensure all systems meet nuclear safety regulations, industry standards, and quality assurance requirements.

  • Develop and execute maintenance, testing, and startup procedures; verify system readiness throughout equipment life.

  • Specializes in the preparation and maintenance of technical documentation such as P&IDs, loop diagrams, and qualification test plans.

  • Works in multi-discipline teams on project-based work and ensures integration of design across multiple disciplines. Will conduct mentoring and quality reviews of the work of junior colleagues when needed.

  • Provides guidance to more junior colleges.

  • Works to assigned schedules ensuring the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of work and initiates corrective measures to overcome delays.

  • Operates with a high degree of independence with minimal guidance.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

About you
  • Bachelor's degree required in electrical or mechanical engineering or related technical or engineering field.

  • Minimum of 7 years relevant experience.

  • Experience in nuclear industry preferred.

  • PE preferred.

  • Master's degree preferred.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Mastered the in-depth knowledge and experience required in electrical design.

  • Experience supporting Human Factors analysis of plant systems.

  • Familiarity with Cyber Security requirements for nuclear facilities.

  • Familiarity with the commissioning or tuning integrated plant control systems.

  • Practical application of licensing standards and regulatory processes.

  • Knowledge and proficiency in applying industry codes and standards (IEEE, IEC, EPRI, ANSI, ISA, IAEA).

  • Must be a U.S. citizen in order to be considered.
