About the Position
As a senior-level Field Technician in the Field Services group, you will be responsible for providing Engineering Field Services as well as assisting with Engineering Design and Analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer in a manner that provides the client with quality service that is on time and within budget.
Hourly Range: $45-70 / hr
The hourly range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.
This opportunity is available to local / in-office (Lakewood, CO) and full-time remote candidates.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Performs equipment, control system, communications, troubleshooting, relay testing, start-up, and commissioning services
  • Lead team of varying skill levels for multiple markets and scopes
  • Provides guidance and mentors less experienced field staff while ensuring quality
  • Provides onsite construction support and supervision; attends construction meetings, assist with construction RFIs, questions, and design updates; assists with project scheduling, coordination between Engineers, Owners, Vendors, Contractors, and other parties; verifies compliance with designs
  • Prepares field testing, troubleshooting, investigation, and construction progress reports
  • Programs, wires, and installs protective relaying and control systems
  • Programs, installs, and tests communications, SCADA, and PLC systems
  • Assist in detailed design of all aspects of Electric Power Systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, writing of equipment specifications, project and construction cost estimates, and project scheduling
  • Reviews the work of Designers, Drafters, and Field Service Personnel for general quality and accuracy, as required
  • Maintains a thorough understanding and applications of applicable Codes and Standards
  • Maintains strong and responsive Company-Client relationships
  • Maintains high ethical and professional standards
  • Expected to work additional time beyond 40 hours/week as required to complete projects, proposals and/or administrative functions
  • Attend conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work
  • Attend safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines
  • Other duties as assigned
Must Have
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required, Associates preferred
  • Experience: 3+ years of Substation Testing Experience
  • Licensure/Certifications: (NETA II / III or NICET II)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and other computer software
  • Professional, articulate, and able to exercise good independent judgement and discretion
  • Experience leading highly technical projects
  • Highly organized, motivated self-starter
  • Proven record of delivering a high standard of quality work with exceptional attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and creating systems and plans where there are none
  • Flexible and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment with a quickly growing team
  • Good interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills; ability to interact successfully with Clients, Contractors, Vendors, and at all levels of the organization; demonstrates high emotional intelligence
  • Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
  • A strong command of the English language
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Nice to Have
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and power system software such as EasyPower, ETAP or SKM
  • Experience with Omicron test equipment preferred
  • SEL equipment installation and configuration, RTAC experience is a plus
  • Experience with configuring, testing, and commissioning IEC61850, DNP3, MODBUS, and/or other SCADA protocols
  • Relay / SCADA panel wiring experience in a substation environment
