Job description

Overview:

The Controls Technician is responsible for designing, writing, testing, and maintaining software that automates production equipment. Ensuring the facility operates at full functionality, while focusing on quality, safety and reliability.

Primary Duties:

  • Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting of Industrial Equipment (PLCs, Drives, Servos, 120/208/480V Motors, 24VDC Control Circuit, Labelers, Robotic Palletizers, Closed Loop Controls, etc.) to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Create, adjust and modify PLC programs on production equipment. As well as testing instrumentation and control systems for proper functionality of process equipment
  • Updating and creating blueprints schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Calibrate and repair electronic instruments and coding of production equipment.
  • Repair/replace/upgrade PLC's, Drives, Servo's, robots, etc.
  • Perform programming upgrades on robotic palletizers.
  • Act as a Controls Subject Matter Expert and assist with new project installations (PLC platform, instrumentation recommendations, wiring schematics, etc.)
  • Assist with completion of PMs (preventive maintenance) on production equipment to maintain efficiency and life of equipment.
  • Assist with troubleshooting, inspecting, repairing production equipment, provide recommendations or guidance regarding necessary repairs.
  • Tasks are to be completed while maintaining the highest safety, food safety and quality, cost and GMP standards in a high-speed manufacturing environment.

Schedule:
Shift hours are somewhat flexible but start time would need to be between 8am and 10am, MON-FRI

Requirements:

  • Minimum four years' experience in a Maintenance Electrical Technician role in a manufacturing environment or related capacity
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering controls or mechatronics engineering is strongly preferred
  • Experience with a CMMS / CAM Software required (computerized maintenance management system)
  • Project Management experience is desired
  • Experience in food regulated manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Work collaboratively in cross-functional teams to solve root cause of downtime issues
  • Effective interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence
  • Advanced computer literacy
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • Understanding of basic principles of the SQF program and other food safety policies/procedures
