Job Description:Our client is seeking a Clinical Data Governance Lead to drive enterprise clinical data governance initiatives across a research and development organization. This individual will serve as the primary steward for clinical data governance processes, metadata management, business glossaries, data catalogs, and data-sharing practices throughout the clinical development lifecycle. The ideal candidate combines deep pharmaceutical and clinical data expertise with strong stakeholder management skills and hands-on experience driving governance adoption across business and technical teams.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:โ€ข Lead clinical data governance initiatives across the R&D organization.โ€ข Own and maintain business glossaries, data dictionaries, metadata repositories, and data catalogs within Collibra.โ€ข Manage governance processes surrounding researcher requests for access to clinical data assets.โ€ข Evaluate data access requests and facilitate governance reviews, approvals, and stewardship activities.โ€ข Partner with clinical researchers to understand data needs and identify existing datasets that support research objectives.โ€ข Facilitate workshops and stakeholder meetings to define, align, and maintain clinical data definitions, standards, and governance practices.โ€ข Drive adoption of data governance processes across business and technical teams.โ€ข Conduct discovery sessions to identify data access challenges, governance gaps, and process inefficiencies.โ€ข Lead continuous improvement initiatives for intake, approval, stewardship, and data-sharing workflows.โ€ข Act as a liaison between business stakeholders, subject matter experts, researchers, and technology teams.โ€ข Support data quality initiatives and governance controls throughout the clinical development lifecycle.โ€ข Provide leadership, oversight, and potential mentorship to offshore governance resources.โ€ข Drive consensus among cross-functional stakeholders on data definitions, standards, and catalog management.

Minimum Requirements:

โ€ข 15 years of experience in data governance, data stewardship, or data management roles.โ€ข Strong pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or clinical research industry experience.โ€ข Experience governing secondary-use clinical research data.โ€ข Hands-on experience with Collibra, including business glossaries, data catalogs, metadata management, and governance workflows.โ€ข Experience supporting clinical development, clinical operations, or pharmaceutical R&D organizations.โ€ข Strong workshop facilitation and stakeholder alignment experience.โ€ข Experience evaluating and governing access to clinical data assets.โ€ข Prior leadership or management experience, including oversight of offshore teams.โ€ข Deep understanding of clinical and pharmaceutical data domains.โ€ข Ability to engage, influence, and build consensus among senior leaders and subject matter experts.โ€ข Strong communication, presentation, and executive-facing skills.โ€ข Ability to balance governance requirements with business enablement objectives.โ€ข Experience improving governance processes, workflows, and operating models in evolving environments.

Preferred Qualifications:โ€ข Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) for clinical entities including studies, sites, investigators, and products.โ€ข Experience with secondary-use data-sharing governance programs.โ€ข Life sciences degree or educational background.โ€ข Experience supporting enterprise data quality initiatives.โ€ข Experience implementing or scaling clinical data governance frameworks.โ€ข Familiarity with clinical trial data standards and regulatory requirements.
