Position Overview

Vital Spark Therapies is actively seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Mental Health Counselor to join our team. This full-time remote position will focus on providing exceptional mental health care to clients experiencing mood disorders, including but not limited to depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety-related disorders. As a pivotal member of our therapeutic team, you will conduct thorough assessments, develop individual treatment plans, and implement evidence-based therapies that help support client well-being and recovery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Comprehensive Client Assessment: Perform initial and ongoing assessments of all clients presenting with mood disorders. This includes gathering extensive background information and collaborating with clients to understand their unique experiences and challenges.
  • Accurate Diagnosis: Use established diagnostic criteria (e.g., DSM-5) to formulate precise diagnoses and ensure proper treatment direction for clients suffering from a range of mood disorders.
  • Individualized Treatment Planning: Create tailored treatment plans based on assessment results, integrating client goals and preferences. Ensure that these plans utilize evidence-based modalities suited for each individual's needs.
  • Evidence-Based Psychotherapy: Deliver therapeutic interventions such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and interpersonal therapy (IPT) during individual sessions. Adapt therapeutic approaches based on client progress and feedback.
  • Collaboration with Psychiatric Staff: Work alongside a supervising psychiatrist to coordinate comprehensive client care, discussing medication management options and contributing insights on treatment efficacy.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide immediate support for clients experiencing acute symptoms or who are in crisis, ensuring their safety and stability.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Maintain accurate clinical records, including progress notes and treatment documentation, adhering to ethical guidelines and organizational policies.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a team of mental health professionals to offer a holistic treatment experience, participating in case consultations as necessary.
  • Client Education: Empower clients and their families through education on mood disorders, coping strategies, and self-care practices to enhance their understanding and management of their conditions.
  • Adhering to Professional Ethics: Uphold the highest standards of professional conduct, ensuring respect for client confidentiality and promoting ethical decision-making in practice.
  • Quality Improvement Initiatives: Engage in quality assurance and outcome monitoring projects, contributing to the ongoing improvement of clinical practices and treatment effectiveness.
Patient Population / Client Focus

This position will focus primarily on adult clients experiencing mood disorders, many of whom may be navigating the complexities of symptoms that significantly impact their daily lives and relationships. Qualifications
  • A Masterโ€™s or Doctoral Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or Psychology from an accredited institution is required.
  • A valid and current licensure as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT in New York State.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and improvement in treatment modalities.
Preferred Experience
  • A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience, particularly in managing mood disorders, is preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in evidence-based treatment practices and familiarity with teletherapy platforms.
Compensation and Benefits
