Job description

The Electronic Health Record Systems Analyst supports the Clinical Access Revenue System department at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center by serving as a primary contact between end users and the Electronic Health Record team. The Electronic Health Record Systems Analyst develops and maintains deep functional knowledge of Epic applications, analyzes clinical and business workflows, and provides technical expertise to ensure systems align with operational needs and patient safety priorities. The Electronic Health Record Systems Analyst plays a critical role in optimizing system performance, supporting end users, and maintaining high standards for build, testing, and documentation.

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. The Electronic Health Record Systems Analyst contributes directly to this mission by ensuring Epic systems effectively support clinical access and revenue operations across the organization.

The ideal candidate will be EpicCare ambulatory certified, have at least 3 years of IT experience, and will have hands-on experience building, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications, including system build, content management, workflow analysis, troubleshooting, and implementing system changes in a healthcare environment. They will bring a strong combination of technical aptitude and clinical or business workflow understanding, with experience supporting Epic applications in a complex healthcare environment. This role is well suited for an individual who can translate operational needs into system solutions, collaborate with clinical and business stakeholders, and maintain Epic certification while adhering to institutional standards, governance, and change control processes.

Minimum $88,000 - Midpoint $110,000 - Maximum $132,000 based on a 40-hour work week. Work Location: Remote 100% Why Us. This role offers the opportunity to support life-saving cancer care by optimizing critical Electronic Health Record systems used across UT MD Anderson.

Responsibilities Standards & Testing Obtain Epic certification within 180 days of hire and maintain required certifications as assigned.

Adhere to standard operating procedures and maintain build and testing standards, including SME or governance signoff. Follow IS division best practices and UT MD Anderson policies, procedures, and standards. Prepare and maintain documentation for system enhancements and new technology implementations.

Follow documented change control processes and perform quality control and testing to ensure technically sound solutions. Build, Content Management & System Configuration Implement and prioritize requested system changes or projects while proactively communicating with end users. Maintain and troubleshoot Electronic Health Record build and configuration.

Modify Epic content as directed by project teams and governance bodies. Participate in implementation and optimization efforts with required approvals. Analyze system configuration with a strong focus on patient safety.

Perform medium-risk and moderately complex system maintenance activities. Complete routine system revisions to meet established build metrics. Apply clinical workflow knowledge to optimize system design and development.

Provide technical expertise in the design and development of Electronic Health Record systems. Support Provide timely customer support and problem resolution for assigned applications. Communicate expectations for procedures, service arrival times, and project deliverables.

Participate in after-hours application support and downtime procedures as needed. Build technical and workflow knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve incidents effectively. Coordinate issue resolution with Epic technical support.

Liaison, Networking Skills & Business Knowledge Gather information related to system enhancements and workflow improvements. Maintain strong liaison relationships with customers and OneIS partners. Collaborate with senior analysts to build technical and operational knowledge.

May substitute required education with years of related experience on a one to one basis. Preferred: EpicCare ambulatory certified, at least 3 years of healthcare IT experience, hands-on experience building, configuring, maintaining, and optimizing Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications, including system build, content management, workflow analysis, troubleshooting, and implementing system changes in a healthcare environment,strong problem solving skills, analytical skills, strong collaborative work ethic, team work oriented. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Required: EPIC - EPIC Certification within 180 Days OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
