What is remote PCB design?

A Remote PCB Design job involves designing printed circuit boards (PCBs) from a remote location using specialized software. Engineers or designers collaborate with teams online, creating schematics, layouts, and optimizing designs for manufacturing. This role requires proficiency in PCB design tools like Altium, Eagle, or KiCad and knowledge of electrical engineering principles. Remote PCB designers often work as freelancers or for companies offering flexible work arrangements. Effective communication and experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) are also essential in this role.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in remote PCB design?

To thrive as a Remote PCB Designer, you need a strong background in electronics engineering, circuit design, and PCB layout principles, often supported by a degree in electrical engineering or a related field. Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools like Altium Designer, Eagle, or KiCAD and familiarity with IPC standards or relevant certifications is crucial. Excellent communication, problem-solving skills, and self-motivation are vital for collaborating with remote teams and meeting project deadlines. These capabilities are essential to deliver reliable, manufacturable PCB designs while working independently in a distributed work environment.

What are the biggest challenges of working as a remote PCB designer, and how can they be managed?

Working remotely as a PCB Designer often means collaborating with engineers, manufacturers, and clients across different locations and time zones, which can make communication and feedback loops more complex. Staying organized, using version control systems, and maintaining detailed documentation are key to ensuring your designs stay aligned with project requirements. Proactively scheduling regular check-ins and utilizing efficient communication tools helps build rapport and quickly resolve issues. By developing strong project management habits and remaining responsive, remote PCB designers can successfully overcome these challenges and keep projects moving smoothly.

Role Title: Architect (CAD & Construction Documentation)
Role Type: Contractor
Location: Remote
We are seeking experienced Architects (CAD & Construction Documentation) to contribute their technical expertise to an innovative AI-focused project. In this role, you will help improve next-generation AI systems by creating, reviewing, and validating high-quality architectural and engineering documentation. Your practical industry knowledge will play a key role in helping AI models better understand complex design workflows, technical drawings, and construction documentation.
No prior AI experience is required-your expertise in architecture, CAD drafting, and construction documentation is what matters most.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
  • Create detailed architectural floor plans, elevations, and construction drawing sets based on project specifications.
  • Develop accurate 2D and 3D CAD drawings for architectural and engineering applications.
  • Prepare precise Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) annotations for technical and manufacturing documentation.
  • Produce, review, and annotate multi-sheet electrical schematics in accordance with industry standards.
  • Design, evaluate, and review PCB layouts while ensuring manufacturability and design accuracy where applicable.
  • Collaborate with project teams to clarify technical requirements and resolve documentation-related questions.
  • Deliver complete, well-organized documentation packages that meet project milestones and quality expectations.
  • Contribute subject matter expertise to improve AI training datasets through accurate technical documentation and structured feedback.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of recent professional experience in architectural CAD drafting and construction documentation.
  • Strong proficiency with industry-standard 2D/3D CAD software and related architectural drafting tools.
  • Experience creating and interpreting GD&T callouts, technical drawings, and engineering documentation.
  • Hands-on experience preparing multi-sheet electrical schematics and working with PCB layout documentation is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation standards and architectural drawing conventions.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage complex documentation across multiple project deliverables.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote, collaborative environment while meeting project deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary architectural and engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with remote collaboration tools and distributed project workflows.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience reviewing technical documentation for quality assurance and compliance.
