Overview

CIP Payroll is seeking a Payroll Account Executive to lead client relationships and oversee payroll operations across a growing portfolio of clients.


This role is designed for someone who understands payroll but prefers to operate at a higher level, focusing on client experience, accuracy, and team oversight, rather than day-to-day processing.


You will serve as the primary point of contact for clients while managing an internal team responsible for payroll execution.


What You'll Do

Client Management

  • Serve as the main contact for assigned payroll clients 
  • Lead client meetings and ongoing service communication 
  • Build strong, trusted relationships and deliver a high-touch experience 

Payroll Oversight

  • Review payroll summaries, reports, and documentation prior to submission 
  • Ensure payroll is accurate, compliant, and processed on time 
  • Act as final checkpoint before payroll is approved 

Team Leadership

  • Oversee payroll processors supporting your client group 
  • Delegate and manage workflows to ensure efficiency and quality 
  • Provide guidance and support to administrative team members 

Problem Solving

  • Troubleshoot payroll discrepancies and client issues 
  • Act as escalation point for complex matters 
  • Drive timely and accurate resolution 

Onboarding & Transitions

  • Lead new client onboarding through first successful payroll 
  • Coordinate data collection, setup, and process alignment 
  • Ensure smooth transitions for both onboarding and offboarding

  • A key driver of payroll service quality and growth 
Client Portfolio
  • Manage approximately 6-10 clients 
  • Oversee 1-2 payroll processors supporting your accounts 

Requirements

 What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of payroll experience 
  • Experience with systems such as PRISM HCM, Paylocity, ADP, Rippling or similar platforms 
  • Strong understanding of payroll compliance and tax fundamentals 
  • Proven ability to manage client relationships 
  • Experience leading or mentoring team members preferred 
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail 
  • Clear, professional communicator

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience, with a proven track record of accuracy and reliability.  

- Proficiency in PRISM HCM, Paylocity, or ADP payroll systems is required.

- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills; zero-error tolerance is a must.  

- Experience handling employee relations, including onboarding and offboarding.  

- Ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards.  

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  

- Familiarity with payroll compliance regulations and best practices.  

- Live in the Boston / Metrowest Boston area and ability to visit client sites 1 - 2 times per month, as needed.
