Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Traveling Party Chief to lead survey crews on utility, infrastructure, and energy-related projects. This position requires extensive travel and the ability to work away from home for extended periods. The Party Chief will be responsible for managing field operations, operating survey equipment, ensuring accurate data collection, and maintaining safety and efficiency on job sites.
Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage survey crews in daily field operations.
  • Operate Trimble GPS, total stations, and data collectors for survey data collection and layout.
  • Use Radiodetection pipe locators to locate and mark underground utilities.
  • Perform construction staking, utility surveys, and topographic surveys.
  • Maintain accurate field notes and survey data.
  • Coordinate with project managers and office staff to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards and jobsite regulations.
  • Maintain and care for survey equipment and vehicles.
  • Travel to project sites and work out of town for extended durations as required.
Requirements

  • 3+ years of surveying experience, with experience leading a crew preferred.
  • Proficiency with Trimble survey equipment (GPS and total stations).
  • Experience using Radiodetection pipe locators.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in various field conditions and terrains.
  • Ability to travel extensively and work away from home for long periods.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to pass a drug test and background check.
