Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experiencedField Safety Specialistwith a strong background inincident investigationto join our safety team at Principle Services. This role is pivotal in identifying, analyzing, and mitigating safety risks across our operations, specifically within theElectric Utility Industry on Substation and Transmission Construction Projects. The ideal candidate will lead systems-based investigations, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a proactive safety culture. This role will be a consulting role where you will have the benefits of working for an agile and values driving company, while representing a world class electric utility (Client) in the field. If you have a passion for making the electric utility industry safer by leading meaningful change and are frustrated by contractors and utilities who don't take safety seriously, this is the role for you.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

Incident Investigation & Analysis

  • Lead comprehensive, systems-based investigations to identify root causes, management deficiencies, and corrective actions.
  • Document findings and oversee timely implementation of safety improvements.
  • Track and report all incident-related costs, including property damage, equipment losses, and other associated impacts to ensure accurate financial accountability.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to OSHA, NFPA, and other applicable safety standards.
  • Promote transparency and accountability in safety processes.

Training & Development

  • Support the development and review of safety plans, wire-pulling plans, site-specific safety documents, and contractor safety program updates.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs aligned withOSHA 1910 General Industryand1926 Construction Standards.
  • Mentor employees, Client personnel, and contractors on safe work practices and hazard recognition.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Client and internal personnel to continuously improve safety culture.
  • Partner with supervisors, managers, and field personnel to gather incident data and implement safety solutions.
  • Facilitate open communication across departments to support safety initiatives.

Continuous Improvement

  • Collect, analyze, and report safety data, identify trends, and partner with leadership and field personnel to drive continuous improvement across transmission construction operations.
  • Monitor safety trends and proactively recommend enhancements to safety protocols.
  • Support audits, inspections, and corrective action tracking.
  • OSHA 30 Construction Certification
  • Proven incident investigation experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in high-voltage transmission safety or electric utility operations
  • Strong understanding of wire pulling operations, grounding, and NFPA standards
  • Proven ability to write and revise technical safety documentation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Skills.
  • Experience with contractor oversight and safety training
  • Excellent communication and remote collaboration skills
  • Preferred Qualifications - Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP), Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO)

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Work Structure

  • Hours:Flexible; focused on deliverables and milestones
  • Location:Remote at jobsites with occasional travel to utility office in Ft Worth
  • Ability to travel 75% to jobsites within Texas.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Extended periods of sitting and standing.
  • Ability to stand.
  • Valid drivers license and acceptable motor vehicle record are required due to the need for driving in this role.
