What is a remote OTA?

A Remote OTA (Over-the-Air) job typically involves managing software updates, data transfers, and system optimizations for connected devices without physical access. This role is common in industries like automotive, telecommunications, and IoT, where professionals ensure seamless remote updates for software, firmware, or network configurations. Responsibilities may include testing updates, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring security compliance. Strong technical knowledge in wireless communications, network protocols, and software deployment is often required.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the remote OTA position?

To thrive as a Remote OTA (Occupational Therapy Assistant), you need an associate degree from an accredited OTA program and a valid certification (COTA) along with state licensure. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, electronic documentation systems, and rehabilitation software is essential for remote service delivery. Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills help you engage clients and coordinate with supervising occupational therapists. These abilities ensure effective virtual patient care and adherence to compliance standards in a remote healthcare environment.

What are common challenges faced by remote OTAs and how can they be addressed?

Remote OTAs often face challenges such as limited hands-on interaction with patients, difficulty in building therapeutic rapport virtually, and managing technological issues during telehealth sessions. To address these, it’s helpful to use a variety of virtual engagement techniques, maintain clear and frequent communication with both patients and supervising OTs, and stay current with telehealth best practices. Proactively troubleshooting technology before sessions and regularly collaborating with your team can also enhance service delivery. Embracing flexibility and adaptability will help you provide effective support and achieve patient goals in a virtual setting.

Job description

The world still has coverage blind spots. You could help eliminate them at Skylo.
Skylo has pioneered a standards-based approach to satellite connectivity. We connect smartphones and IoT devices directly to satellites. No special hardware, no entirely new networks. Just billions of existing devices, suddenly reachable anywhere on Earth. We're not building toward this future. We're already in it.
Our direct-to-device service is live on millions of activated devices across five continents, covering more than 72 million square kilometers, in partnership with leading satellite operators, mobile network operators, Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs worldwide. And we're just getting started.
At the heart of it all is Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN: a 3GPP standards-based, cloud-native platform that seamlessly bridges terrestrial and satellite networks. It's the infrastructure that makes true anywhere, anytime connectivity possible.
When you join Skylo, you'll work at the intersection of three markets reshaping how the world stays connected: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT. Enabling people outdoors and critical workflows in the world's most remote places.
This is a rare chance to work on technology that matters, at a company that's already proving it works
This role is fully remote in the US.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Staff Network Integration Engineer - Core Components leads the end-to-end integration, configuration, and automated deployment of 4G EPC, 5G Core, and satellite earth station core software components across pre-production, staging, and commercial network environments. Operating within the Network Implementation organization, this role translates architectural guidelines from Network Design & Planning into production configurations, optimizes zero-touch software rollouts, manages carrier interconnects, and ensures high availability across live operational stacks.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead installation, configuration, and end-to-end integration of core network elements - EPC, 5GC, MME, IMS, HSS, DRA - across cloud and on-prem infrastructure.
  • Integrate and configure the Entitlement Server (ES) for device authentication and OTA provisioning services, aligned to GSMA.
  • Configure and validate signaling and roaming interfaces (S6a, S8, Diameter, IPX) to bring up global MNO/MVNO partner integrations and roaming hub capability.
  • Support core/RAN integration work across the various initiatives supporting multiple environments from QA to Production.
  • Support integration of KYC subscriber verification flows with core/BSS systems for regulatory-compliant onboarding, SIM/eSIM activation, and identity validation across partner networks.
  • Build and own CI/CD pipelines (e.g. Jenkins, ArgoCD/GitOps) and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Ansible) to automate software rollouts
  • Author and execute Methods of Procedure (MOPs) and rollback plans for core software deployments, upgrades, and configuration changes
  • Stand up element-level metrics, health alarms, and real-time dashboards (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, OpenObserve/OTel) to speed root-cause analysis and L4 escalations.
  • Function as the lead technical expert, advocating for standardized architecture while bridging communications between R&D, field deployment, and network operations units.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 8+ years in 3GPP 4G LTE EPC and 5G Core network architectures, parameters, and service flows.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting Diameter, S6a and S8 protocol stacks.
  • 6+ years in Python/Bash scripting, Linux administration, CI/CD toolchains (Jenkins, ArgoCD/GitOps), and Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Hands-on AWS cloud infrastructure experience (EC2, EKS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch) deploying and operating containerized network functions in production.
  • Hands-on knowledge of SMSC and messaging architecture, including SMPP and SS7 MAP protocols, for provisioning and triaging service delivery.
  • Deep understanding of Entitlement Server (ES) frameworks and OTA provisioning standards (GSMA/TS.43) for device services.
  • Proven track record authoring and executing MOPs, rollback procedures, and change-governance runbooks in production telecom environments.
  • Comfortable building monitoring/alerting pipelines (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenObserve, OTel) rather than only consuming dashboards built by others.
  • Track record partnering across design, test, deployment, and operations functions in a telecom or satellite NTN environment.

WHAT WE OFFER
With employees working across three continents, Skylo is proud to be an equal opportunity employer dedicated to building an inclusive and diverse workforce. Our worldwide culture encourages a flexible approach to work, and we offer an attractive range of benefits:
  • Competitive compensation packages including a stock option-based equity program
  • Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and retirement plan
  • Monthly allowances for wellness and education reimbursement
  • A generous time-off policy, holidays, and the opportunity to temporarily work abroad
  • A once-in-a-career opportunity to operate the world's first commercial, live direct-to-device satellite network
  • Access to a world-class team across software, hardware, chipsets, telecom, satellite, and network virtualization

The estimated base salary range for this role is
  • San Francisco Bay Area: $180,000 - $190,000.
  • Other US Areas: $155,000 - $165,000.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant training.
In addition to base salary, Skylo offers a competitive benefits package including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and equity options.
