Job description

OCCU is a member-owned credit union based in Eugene, Oregon, guided by a clear and meaningful vision: to Enrich Lives. This purpose drives everything we do-from how we serve our members to how we support one another as colleagues. With a strong commitment to community impact, OCCU lives its values of tenacity, humility, and big-heartedness every day.
About the Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Regional Dealership Development Manager or Regional Business Development Manager to lead OCCU's Indirect Lending Business Development Officer (BDO) team across California. This remote role requires current California residency, ideally within Northern, Central, or Southern California, to support efficient travel and strong familiarity with the region's dealership landscape. The position offers a competitive salary range of $142,362 - $170,421, depending on experience and regional location.
As a key leader within Indirect Lending, you will guide a high-performing team, strengthen dealer partnerships, drive loan origination goals, and ensure alignment with OCCU's philosophies and growth strategies. This role is ideal for a seasoned dealership professional who thrives in fast-paced environments, excels at coaching others, and brings deep insight into California's competitive automotive market.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Business Development Officers to achieve regional goals and deliver best-in-class service.
  • Build and expand strategic relationships with franchise and independent dealerships across California.
  • Drive regional business development strategies, loan origination targets, dealer engagement, and compliance expectations.
  • Monitor market conditions, competitive shifts, and dealership performance to inform strategy and adjust plans proactively.
  • Partner with leadership to evolve indirect lending initiatives, improve processes, and support long-term program growth.
  • Represent OCCU at dealership events, networking opportunities, and partnership activities, including occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ensure team communication, performance management, and development plans are consistently executed.
  • Prepare and analyze regional reports, track BDO activities, and address performance gaps quickly and effectively.

What We're Looking For:
  • Minimum of eight years of in-dealership sales or finance management experience, such as F&I Manager/Director, Sales Manager, GSM, or GM.
  • At least three years leading multiple dealership relationships or managing a field-based business development team.
  • Strong indirect lending expertise with a deep understanding of dealer operations, compliance, and profitable lending strategies.
  • California market fluency, insight into regional dealership culture, competitive dynamics, and consumer trends across Northern, Central, and Southern California.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, able to coach, motivate, and develop a high-performing team.
  • Strategic relationship builder, skilled at influencing partners, navigating challenges, and creating long-term value.
  • Highly organized and independent, excels in remote work, territory planning, and travel-heavy schedules.
  • Flexible and resilient comfortable with evenings/weekends and fast-changing priorities.
  • Bachelor's degree required (or equivalent experience demonstrating measurable business outcomes).
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.

Why Join OCCU:
OCCU offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package designed to support your well-being and professional growth, including:
  • Low-cost medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match
  • Paid time off plus 13 paid holidays
  • Tuition reimbursement for eligible education and training
  • Company-paid long-term disability
  • 40 hours of company-paid core time annually for full-time employees to participate in community volunteer opportunities

OCCU is an Equal Opportunity Employer and welcomes applications from all qualified candidates. If you're a strategic leader who thrives on building strong dealer partnerships, developing high-performing teams, and driving growth across California, we encourage you to apply.
