POSITION OVERVIEW
Leads the design, development, and optimization of complex, cross-functional automation solutions. Acts as a technical authority on architecture decisions, integration patterns, and engineering best practices within the ORCA program.
LOCATION
  • This role is 100% remote.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Architect and implement end-to-end automation solutions
  • Define integration standards, data flow patterns, and reusable framework components
  • Design and maintain the data lake architecture for centralized automation telemetry and
  • reporting
  • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews, design sessions, and knowledge transfer
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend platform improvements to enhance capability and scale

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, or related field or equivalent combination of extensive experience and education
  • 5-7+ years in software engineering, DevOps, or automation engineering, with at least 2 years in a security or infrastructure domain
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering production automation platforms or data pipelines at enterprise scale
  • Track record of mentoring junior engineers and influencing technical direction
  • Experience integrating across multiple enterprise systems (ITSM, identity, vulnerability management, threat intel)
  • Python (advanced: library design, async patterns, packaging, CI/CD integration)
  • REST API architecture (designing, versioning, auth patterns: OAuth 2.0, Managed Identity, API keys)
  • Automation orchestration platforms (Apache Airflow, Prefect, Dagster, or equivalent)
  • Data pipeline and data lake design (schema evolution, partitioning, storage optimization)
  • AI/LLM integration (agent architectures, tool-calling patterns, multi-model orchestration, prompt engineering)
  • Container orchestration (Kubernetes/AKS: deployments, Helm charts, troubleshooting, resource management)
  • Linux administration (RHEL: systemd, networking, security hardening, performance tuning)
  • Infrastructure as Code (Bicep, Terraform, or ARM templates)
  • Git workflows (branching strategies, PR review processes, CI/CD pipeline design)
  • SQL (complex queries, schema design, performance optimization)

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
  • Master's degree in a technical discipline a plus
  • Relevant certifications strongly valued: CISSP, AZ-305 (Solutions Architect), CKA/CKAD, AZ-400 (DevOps Engineer), AWS/Azure Security specialty
  • Azure platform expertise (Key Vault, Blob Storage, Container Apps/AKS, Managed Identity, Azure OpenAI)
  • Security domain knowledge (vulnerability management lifecycle, threat intel feeds, CVSS/EPSS scoring, SIEM/SOAR)
  • Encrypted data handling (Parquet Modular Encryption, AES-256, key management)
  • Graph database experience (Neo4j, Cypher)
  • Experience building shared libraries or SDKs consumed by multiple teams
  • Contribution to architecture decisions and technical roadmaps at the program level
  • Experience with enterprise change management and production deployment processes
