Field Design Inspector - Electric Distribution
Remote Field-Based | Travel Throughout Eastern & Central Pennsylvania

ExecuPOWER is seeking a Field Design Inspector - Distribution to support electric utility distribution projects throughout Eastern and Central Pennsylvania. This is a field-based position responsible for collecting critical design information, performing site inspections, documenting existing utility infrastructure, and supporting the engineering design process.

About the Role
As a Field Design Inspector, you will serve as the eyes and ears of our engineering team by gathering accurate field data used to design overhead and underground electric distribution projects. You'll travel daily throughout your assigned territory, working independently while collaborating closely with engineers, designers, utility personnel, and project managers to ensure projects move forward safely, accurately, and efficiently.
This role is ideal for individuals with experience in distribution design, utility field inspections, line work, staking, or utility construction who enjoy a combination of field work and technology.
What You'll Do
Field Inspections & Data Collection
  • Perform field inspections of overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
  • Identify and document primary and secondary electric distribution facilities, including poles, transformers, conductors, services, switches, and associated equipment.
  • Collect detailed field information to support engineering design and construction packages.
  • Review project statements of work and ensure field conditions align with utility standards and project requirements.
  • Take, organize, upload, and document field photographs for engineering design and project documentation.
  • Verify existing utility assets and identify potential conflicts or constructability concerns.

Project Support
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, project managers, and utility personnel throughout project execution.
  • Maintain accurate electronic records within client and ExecuPOWER systems.
  • Assist with project planning by identifying field conditions that could impact schedules or construction.
  • Support quality assurance by ensuring field data is complete, accurate, and properly documented.

Safety & Emergency Response
  • Follow all utility, client, OSHA, and ExecuPOWER safety policies and procedures.
  • Work safely around energized electrical facilities while utilizing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Participate in emergency restoration efforts and storm response activities when required.
  • Travel extensively throughout the assigned service territory to support utility projects.

What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Technical degree in Engineering Technology, Utility Technology, Construction Management, or a related field or equivalent utility field experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Electric Distribution Design
    • Utility Fielding
    • Utility Construction
    • Distribution Line Work
    • Staking or Field Inspection
  • Strong understanding of overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
  • Ability to identify utility equipment and interpret engineering standards.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer, tablet, and smartphone proficiency.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to travel daily throughout:

    • Harrisburg, PA
    • Pocono Region

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk long distances across varied terrain, including wooded and undeveloped areas.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work in areas with limited or no cellular service.
  • Ability to drive extended distances throughout the workweek.
