What is a Remote Nursing job?

A remote nursing job allows registered nurses (RNs) and other nursing professionals to provide healthcare services, support, and education from a remote location, typically using telehealth technology. These roles can include telephone triage, case management, health coaching, telemedicine, and utilization review. Remote nurses work for hospitals, insurance companies, telehealth providers, and other healthcare organizations. This type of job enables flexibility while still delivering essential patient care and support.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Remote Nursing position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Remote Nursing, you need an active RN or LPN/LVN license, a solid background in clinical care, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, electronic health records (EHRs), and secure communication tools is typically required, along with relevant certifications such as BLS or specialty credentials. Exceptional time management, critical thinking, and independent problem-solving abilities help remote nurses excel in this setting. These capabilities are essential for providing safe, effective patient care and seamless collaboration with remote healthcare teams.

What is the typical structure of a remote nursing team and how do remote nurses collaborate with colleagues?

Remote nursing teams often consist of nurses, physicians, care coordinators, and allied health professionals who work together virtually to provide patient care. Collaboration is facilitated through secure messaging platforms, virtual meetings, and shared access to electronic health records, enabling effective communication and coordinated care. Although working remotely, nurses frequently interact with team members for case discussions, care planning, and support. Staying connected and proactive helps ensure patient needs are met and fosters a strong sense of teamwork, even when staff are geographically dispersed.

Job description

About Belle

Belle is a fast growing engagement company that is revolutionizing home healthcare - and it all begins with the feet. With 25M+ U.S. seniors no longer able to see or reach their feet, a lack of self care and mobility challenges cost the health insurance plans $38B+ in preventable medical spending every year.

Belle trains and manages a network of nail technicians or "Belle Technicians" who provide in-home foot care (aka medical pedicures). Belle uses cutting edge data science to identify those most in need on behalf of health plans and deploys its services accordingly. While in the home, Belle Technicians complete assessments and screenings, often being the first to identify emerging issues below and above the knee. As these issues arise, a team of remote nurses coordinate care with other healthcare providers - preventing serious and costly episodes.

Our mission: Bring Joy to Healthcare. Join us if our cause inspires you!

About this Role

Belle is seeking a compassionate and clinically skilled Nurse Practitioner (NP) to provide remote telehealth support for Medicare beneficiaries enrolled in our Chronic Care Management (CCM) program. This role focuses on responding to urgent clinical escalations from our nursing team, with the majority of calls involving poorly controlled hypertension, medication concerns, and other non-life-threatening acute issues.

As a Telehealth Provider, you will assess members remotely, determine the appropriate level of care, provide evidence-based treatment recommendations, and collaborate closely with nurses, Community Health Workers, primary care providers, and care coordinators to help keep members healthy and out of the emergency department whenever clinically appropriate.

This is a fully remote position supporting a fast-growing, mission-driven organization dedicated to bringing joy to healthcare.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct telehealth evaluations for Medicare beneficiaries experiencing urgent, non-emergent clinical concerns
  • Evaluate symptoms, review medical histories, and determine appropriate interventions.
  • Determine when escalation to the member's primary care provider, emergency department, or 911 is clinically indicated
  • Document all encounters accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
  • Assist in reducing avoidable emergency department visits and hospitalizations through proactive clinical intervention.
  • Provide patient education on disease management, medications, lifestyle modifications, and symptom monitoring.
  • Promote medication adherence and self-management of chronic conditions.
  • Provide clinical guidance and education to nursing staff on appropriate escalation pathways.
  • Participate in clinical case reviews and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Active, unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license.
  • National certification appropriate to specialty.
  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical practice experience, preferably in primary care, internal medicine, family medicine, geriatrics, urgent care, or chronic disease management.
  • Experience managing hypertension and common chronic conditions, including diabetes, heart failure, COPD, and chronic kidney disease.
  • Prior telehealth or virtual care experience.
  • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication and patient education abilities.
  • Familiarity with eClinicalWorks (eCW) or similar EMRs.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation based on experience
  • Health, Dental, and Vision Insurance Benefits
  • 401k
  • PTO, Sick, Wellness leave, and Paid Holidays
  • Opportunity for significant career growth and expansion of responsibilities
  • Ability to reshape an industry and protect lives
