A nurse practitioner, or NP, is a step above a registered nurse, or RN. As a remote nurse practitioner, you provide telemedicine services over the phone or internet to your clients to help them with their treatment plan and other concerns that they have. Your responsibilities include working to consult with your patient and the members of their healthcare team, working on a new diagnosis when patients have a new chief complaint, and creating a care plan for patients. Other duties include writing prescriptions based on patient needs, diagnosing medical conditions, educating patients on their diagnoses and the treatments they are using, examining patient’s medical history, charting all contact with your patients, and aiding patients with the necessary lifestyle changes to enhance their health.
| Aspect | Remote Nurse Practitioner | Remote Physician Assistant |
|---|---|---|
| Credentials | Master's or Doctorate in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner license | Master's or Doctorate in Physician Assistant Studies, PA license |
| Work Environment | Telehealth clinics, hospitals, private practices | Telehealth services, clinics, hospitals |
| Employer & Industry | Healthcare providers, telehealth companies, clinics | Healthcare organizations, telehealth platforms, hospitals |
Both Remote Nurse Practitioners and Remote Physician Assistants work in telehealth settings, providing patient care remotely. While they share similar credentials and work environments, Nurse Practitioners typically focus on primary care and health management, whereas Physician Assistants often assist in diagnosis and treatment across various specialties. Understanding these differences helps in choosing the right career path or job opportunity.
