Job description

The Manager, Project Management Office is responsible for coordinating with STEP customers, engineers, solution architects and sales teams to design and execute programs and projects for our customers. The PMO Manager is responsible for supervising project management staff, offering guidance on PMO processes and policies, and administering everyday activities.

The PMO Manager is accountable for managing IT Service Delivery projects and ensuring they get completed within budget and time. This role is responsible for confirming that everyone on the team complies with STEP standards during the execution and development of each project.

  • Be a team player at all times, raising awareness of risks, while supporting the teams’ design, implementation, and support of our solutions. Willing to jump in and assist with any work efforts or responsibilities as needed.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with management, customers, partners, and team members.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, developments, and best practices in the Project Management profession; apply this knowledge to recommend and implement process and policy changes.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Thought leadership for the PMO functions including process, procedures, and policies related to project execution.
  • Responsible for coordinating with sales, engineering, and finance leaders to scope, develop, prioritize, and define projects.
  • Responsible for assigning team members to projects, prioritizing duties, and setting deadlines.
  • Resource allocation, risks, project budgets, and coordinating AP/AR process.
  • Ensure that team members carry out their duties effectively while complying with the STEP CG standards.
  • Inspire, lead, and manage the project management team.
  • Actively engage in 3rd Party administration – selection amp; vetting of vendors, contract standardization, usage, etc.
  • Improve existing and draft new project management office processes and policies including and contributing requirements for our IT systems.
  • Evaluate projects continually to ensure they meet STEP and regulatory standards and adhere to meeting deadlines and budgets.
  • Manage customer projects directly depending on demand and availability of resources.
  • Perform other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Ideal Candidate’s Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in administration, business, or related field.
  • PMP or Project Management Professional Certification not required, but strongly preferred.
  • Must have at least five years of experience in the IT industry in a project manager capacity.
  • Experience in a supervisory role desired.
  • Practical experience with Service Now Strategic Portfolio Manager (SPM).
  • Possess outstanding leadership abilities and be well-versed in communicating and writing skills. Attention to detail is critical.
  • Strong technical and organizational abilities around the area of IT Services.
  • Possess multi-tasking and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
  • Ability to manage a highly remote team environment.
  • Ability to manage confidential information.
