  • You will assess and analyze dietary practices, body composition, and energy intake and expenditures of Marine athletes in the context of operational performance and health.
  • You will develop and deliver nutrition education related to supplementation that complies with the Department of Defense (DoD) dietary supplement program.
  • You will develop and deliver nutrition education presentations, demonstrations, or events on topics related to nutrition for performance.
  • You will implement standardized nutrition education with a focus on optimal nutrition recovery from illness or injury and ensure Semper Fit protocols are followed.
  • You will create performance-based digital and educational content such as articles, social media messages, and webinars, and partner with marketing teams to develop resources for public distribution aboard the installation.

  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • This position is eligible for ad-hoc/situational telework at the discretion of management.

Qualifications
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Conducting dietary assessments and implementing evidence-based nutritional protocols to develop programs that optimize physical readiness and human performance.

Education
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:
Basic Requirement:
  • Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree in the fields of dietetics, food, nutrition, food service management, institution management, or related science. The educational program must have been accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics(external link) (ACEND), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained. For dietitian positions, the curriculum must have been in accordance with the qualifying requirements established by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND)(external link) (formerly American Dietetic Association(external link) (ADA) prior to January 1, 2012) in effect at the time of graduation OR
  • Completion of a coordinated undergraduate program, internship, or other clinical component approved by AND (formerly ADA) for dietitians or nutritionists OR
  • Professional registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN)

In lieu of the specialized experience listed in the Qualifications section, you may qualify for the position based on education OR equivalent combination of experience and education as follows:
  • I have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR
  • I have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. My percentage of the required education plus my percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent
