Position: RN / Utilization Review Nurse
Location: Sacramento, CA (ON-SITE)
Employment Type: Potential contract to hire
Pay Range: $35.00 – $45.00/hour (Paid Weekly)
Schedule: Monday – Friday, Standard Business Hours

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Utilization Review Nurse to support a potential contract to hire assignment in a healthcare review environment. This role is responsible for reviewing medical records, treatment requests, and clinical documentation to support timely, accurate, and compliant care decisions in accordance with established guidelines and regulatory standards. Training will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review medical records and treatment requests for completeness and guideline compliance.
  • Evaluate diagnoses, treatment plans, and clinical documentation using established care guidelines and best practices.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, providers, and physician reviewers to support case review processes.
  • Assist with coordination of peer reviews and communication of review determinations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure cases are processed within required timelines.
  • Support case management activities and identify cases requiring additional review or follow-up.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, providers, and team members regarding case status and documentation needs.
  • Assist with administrative and reporting tasks related to utilization review activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license.
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology and clinical documentation.
  • Experience in utilization review, managed care, or workers’ compensation preferred.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and evidence-based clinical guidelines.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote or office-based setting.

Working Conditions:

  • May on occasion be exposed to loud sounds and distracting noise levels, such as from office equipment.
  • The ability to lift up to 30lbs.
  • Use of computers and technology.
