Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Load Balancing Engineer to join its Cloud Platform Engineering team. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise load balancing solutions across on-prem and cloud environments.

This is a hands-on, Senior-level position requiring deep expertise in load balancing concepts (not just tools), as well as strong troubleshooting ability across networking, cloud, and modern application architectures.

This team operates in a DevOps/Platform Engineering model—owning design, build, and ongoing support of everything they deploy.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and support enterprise load balancing solutions

- Primary: Citrix NetScaler (ADC)

- Also: F5, Azure Load Balancer, Azure Application Gateway, Kubernetes ingress/load balancing

• Troubleshoot complex, cross-domain issues involving:

- DNS, DHCP, routing/switching

- Application behavior and backend dependencies

- Cloud networking and hybrid environments

• Configure and maintain advanced load balancing features:

GSLB / Global Server Load Balancing

SSL offloading, traffic routing, high availability, clustering

• Support load balancing for:

- Traditional enterprise apps

- Cloud-native and containerized applications (Kubernetes)

- Emerging AI/LLM workloads and modern architectures

• Collaborate with application teams to diagnose and resolve performance and connectivity issues

• Participate in on-call rotation (post-conversion) for production support

• Contribute to platform engineering initiatives, including:

- Tool standardization and rationalization

- Automation and infrastructure-as-code adoption

• Build and maintain automation using:

- Terraform, Ansible, scripting (CLI-first mindset)

• Engage in an Agile/Scrum environment (sprints, backlog, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NetScaler (ADC) in enterprise environments

• Strong F5 background (highly transferable and welcomed)

• Cloud experience (Azure preferred; AWS acceptable)

• Experience with load balancers deployed in cloud (vs. hardware appliances)

• Automation experience:

- Terraform, Ansible, scripting (Python/Bash)

• Exposure to DevOps / Platform Engineering practices

• Experience supporting high-availability, mission-critical systems

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
