Posting Title: Journeyman Electrician
Location: Iowa | Arizona | California | Nevada | New Mexico | Ohio | Texas | Utah | Wisconsin
Salary Range: $48.00/Hr. to $50.00/Hr.

Compensation and benefits for this role are governed by the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). Additional hourly incentives may apply depending on the project. Candidates who are not currently members of the union will be required to join the IBEW upon hire.
Final determination of a successful candidate’s starting pay will vary based on a number of factors, including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, education and experience. The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description. ABOUT THE ROLE

Cupertino Electric is seeking a skilled and motivated Journeyman Electrician to join our team. As a Journeyman Electrician, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and components in commercial, industrial, and large-scale construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and be able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Install, maintain, modify, and repair electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, and control systems according to National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams to understand project specifications.
  • Install conduit, cable trays, wiring, circuit breakers, transformers, switches, and other electrical equipment as required by project designs.
  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical systems to ensure functionality and safety compliance.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure that electrical work is aligned with other trades and overall project timelines.
  • Lead apprentices and provide on-the-job training and mentorship to help them grow in their skills.
  • Maintain compliance with IBEW agreements, local labor standards, and company policies.
  • Ensure all work is performed safely and efficiently, following OSHA and company safety protocols.
  • Report and document work progress, issues, and resolutions to the foreman and project managers as necessary.
  • Participate in team meetings, safety briefings, and ongoing training to remain up to date on new tools, technologies, and safety standards.
  • Provide input on electrical materials, tools, and equipment necessary for each project.

ABOUT YOU
You have in-depth knowledge of electrical systems, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and local electrical codes. You possess experience in the installation of electrical components including wiring, conduits, and circuit breakers. You have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and construction documents. Your strong troubleshooting skills enable you to resolve electrical issues independently. You are proficient in using electrical tools, hand tools, and power tools. You understand OSHA safety standards and are committed to maintaining a safe work environment. With good communication and interpersonal skills, you work effectively with team members, apprentices, and supervisors. You also have the ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting heavy objects, climbing ladders, and working in various weather conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

  • Journeyman Electrician Certification or State License preferred.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Journeyman in commercial, industrial, or electrical construction projects.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in leadership or supervising apprentice electricians.
  • Certification in OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 safety training.
  • Experience with large-scale commercial or industrial projects.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to stand, kneel, and walk for long periods.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
  • Willingness to work at heights and in confined spaces as required by the job.
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel to various job sites.
