Job description

Overview

Senior SAP S/4HANA Functional Lead - Plan-to-Stock (P2S) and Defense & Securityย (PMW220)

Bowhead is seeking a Senior SAP S/4HANA Functional Lead - Plan-to-Stock (P2S) & Defense & Security to provide consultative support to the Navy ERP Program Office in Washington, D.C. The selected candidate will serve as the Government's senior functional advisor for the Plan-to-Stock workstream supporting ERP+ modernization and implementation of SAP S/4HANA and SAP Defense & Security (D&S). This position can be remote.

This is a senior advisory role-not a configuration or transactional support position. The successful candidate will operate at the intersection of functional architecture, enterprise integration, governance, and business transformation while advising Government leadership throughout the ERP+ modernization lifecycle.

As the program transitions from requirements definition into implementation, this position will evolve into an Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) role, providing objective oversight of System Integrator (SI) functional designs, configuration decisions, integrations, and solution implementation to ensure alignment with Government-approved requirements, SAP leading practices, enterprise architecture, and long-term sustainment.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic functional leadership throughout the ERP+ modernization lifecycle.
  • Lead Plan-to-Stock (P2S) fit-to-standard workshops and requirements refinement.
  • Support decomposition of L2, L3, and L4 business capabilities into implementable solution concepts.
  • Lead discussions with Navy stakeholders across multiple commands and functional communities.
  • Provide recommendations that maximize standard SAP capabilities while minimizing customization.
  • Evaluate the enterprise-wide impacts of proposed Plan-to-Stock business processes and solution designs across Procurement, Inventory Management, Warehouse Management, Supply Planning, Defense & Security capabilities, Data Management, Reporting, Cybersecurity, and external enterprise interfaces, ensuring integrated solutions support Government-approved business requirements and SAP leading practices.
  • Prepare executive briefings, governance artifacts, business cases, and decision support materials.
  • Support release planning, production readiness, testing strategy, deployment planning, and post-go-live stabilization.

Independent Verification & Validation (IV&V) / Solution Oversight

  • Serve as the Government's independent functional advisor during design, configuration, and implementation.
  • Review functional designs, configuration proposals, and solution documentation for compliance with approved requirements.
  • Validate that proposed solutions satisfy approved L2/L3/L4 capabilities and SAP leading practices.
  • Identify functional gaps, design risks, integration issues, and unnecessary customization.
  • Evaluate impacts to business processes, cybersecurity, audit readiness, sustainment, performance, and maintainability.
  • Support design reviews, architecture reviews, milestone decision events, and Government acceptance activities.

SAP Defense & Security Focus

  • Advise on Force Structure, Authorized Materiel, Unit Readiness, Equipment Readiness, Deployment Logistics, Operational Inventory Visibility, Asset Accountability, and Weapon System Sustainment.
  • Assist the Government in leveraging SAP D&S capabilities to replace legacy customizations where practical.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Ten or more (10+) years supporting SAP logistics, supply chain, or military sustainment business processes.
  • Five or more (5+) years supporting SAP S/4HANA implementations or modernization initiatives.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Plan-to-Stock capabilities including Material Master, Inventory Management, Warehouse Management, Demand & Supply Planning, Logistics Execution, Enterprise Asset Management, Physical Inventory, Asset Visibility, and Equipment Accountability.
  • Experience integrating P2S with P2P, O2C, R2R, Finance, Data Management, Reporting, and Analytics.
  • Experience leading executive-level briefings, governance activities, and fit-to-standard workshops.
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, IT, Engineering, Business, or related discipline (Master's preferred).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Navy ERP, ERP+, or other DoD ERP modernization efforts.
  • Experience with SAP Defense & Security (D&S) or DFPS.
  • Experience supporting Government oversight of SAP implementations.
  • Experience with military logistics, readiness, authorized materiel, equipment accountability, and sustainment.
  • Experience with data analytics and visualization.

Desired Certifications

  • SAP S/4HANA Materials Management (MM)
  • SAP S/4HANA Sourcing & Procurement
  • SAP S/4HANA Asset Management (EAM/PM)
  • SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM)
  • SAP Defense & Security (D&S)/DFPS training
  • Relevant DAWIA/DAU certifications

Additional Requirements

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to independently advise senior Government leadership.
  • Strong analytical, facilitation, and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required security clearance.

Target salary range is $220K to $250K depending upon experience.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 5 pounds
  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
