Job Title:ย ย Remoteย Clinicalย Counselorย 

**This position is fully remote and able to be supported from any location. However, candidates must be available to work during the below specifiedย timeframe, regardless of theirย location.**ย 

**All candidates must be flexible to work a shift within the hour range of 7:00AM-7:00PM ET**

Summaryย  - This is a contingent opportunity and would begin work upon the contract award.

Theย Virtualย Clinical Counselorย works as aย full-timeย employee of Zeiders Enterprises andย provides assessment and short-term, solutionย focused non-medialย counseling services to eligibleย Navy Wounded Warriorย (NWW),ย Navy Goldย Star(NGS), and Fisher Houseย individualsย as part of the CNIC Fleet and Family Support Program (FFSP) Global Staffing Contract.ย Deliversย virtualย non-medicalย counselingย (individuals, marital or intimate partners, families, and/or groups) toย wounded, and injured Sailors, surviving family members, caregivers, and Fisher House families.ย This position isย virtualย but must beย locatedย withinย aย reasonable commuting distanceย ofย militaryย installationย for the purpose of CAC issuance.ย Virtualย Clinical Counselorsย may be asked to provide surge support to other regions virtually, and in times of crisis may beย requiredย to travel to provide clinical support to clients on site.ย ย 

Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesย 

  • Scope of practice is limited to counseling services forย Otherย Conditionsย Thatย May Be aย Focus ofย Clinicalย Attention andย Adjustmentย Disordersย and may include presenting concernsย including grief and loss, adjustment to catastrophicย injuryย or illness, caregiver stress and compassionย illness,ย andย stress related to recovery or medical retirement.ย ย 
  • Maintainย a virtual caseload dedicated to NWW, NGS, and Fisher House populations.ย Ensure referral forย appropriate behavioralย health follow-up of any psychological disorders or symptoms requiring longer-term and/or medical/psychiatric intervention. Conduct intake, screening, assessment, and referral of clients asย appropriate. Work with the client toย establishย an individual treatment plan. Provide individualย andย couples, andย groupย counseling. Provide information about existing Navy programs such asย NMC Counseling Servicesย at the sites. Provide immediate intervention and risk assessment IAW best practices in the mental health community and educate and ensure adequate referral and follow-up of any case presenting suicidal or homicidalย risk.ย 
  • Performย accurateย assessment of the clientโ€™s presenting problem and plan effective treatment for thatย problem.ย 
  • Provideย an initialย clinical assessment and ongoing risk assessments using the Columbia Suicide Severity Risk Scale (C-SSRS). Provide ongoing safety planning using the Veterans Affairs Safety Plan.ย 
  • Report suspected child abuse and domestic abuse/violence to the local civilian authorities and the Family Advocacy Representative IAW Navy and state requirements.ย ย 
  • Coordinate and manage specialized assessment and intervention services for children and families not associated with met criteria incidents of child abuse/neglect or domestic abuse.ย 
  • Provide a warm handoff to the Family Advocacy Representative or FAP Victim Advocate for clients wanting to make a restricted domestic abuse report.ย 
  • Provide a warm handoff to the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator or SAPR Victim Advocate for clients wanting to make a restricted sexual assault report.ย ย 
  • Intervene in crisis situations, using sound professional judgment, ethicalย practice,ย and common sense.ย ย This includes duty counselor responsibilities within the normalย work day.ย 
  • Virtualย Clinical Counselors mayย be authorized toย provide temporary surge support (telephonically and through Navy authorized virtual platforms) acrossย additionalย Navy Regions when there is an increased number of cases within a region. All efforts should be made to provide appointments in the time zone of the Sailorโ€™s location.ย 
  • Participate in quarterly quality assurance procedures to ensure that all clinical services provided are safe and ofย goodย quality.ย 
  • Maintain counseling case documentationย in the FFSMIS Clinical Counseling Record Systemย for all non-medical counseling assessment and counseling servicesย IAW all applicable policies,ย laws,ย andย instructions.ย 
  • Ensureย allย non-medical counseling services are accountedย for inย the FFSMISย schedulingย module.ย 

Required Education and/or Experience Qualificationsย ย 

  • Minimum educational qualifications include one of the following; a masterโ€™s degree in counseling accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs; a masterโ€™s degree in social work accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, a masterโ€™s degree in marriage and family therapy accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Marriage and Family Therapy Education, or a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology and a one-year clinical internship accredited by the American Psychological Association.ย 
  • Current, valid and unrestricted clinical license or certification from a state or U.S. territory authorizing independent clinical practice in the fields of professional counseling, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy or clinical/counseling psychology- LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker), LMFT (Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist), LCP (Licensed Clinical Psychologist/ Licensed PhD in Psychology), LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), LCPC (Licensed Certified Professional Counselor), LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor)ย ย 
  • Eachย Remote Clinicalย Counselorย mustย maintainย current clinical credentials and privileges throughout their FFSPย assignment.ย 
  • A minimum of two years- of full-time, post-masterโ€™s supervised clinicalย experience.ย 
  • Remote Clinicalย Counselorsย must meet or exceed the requirements for Tier II clinical practitioners.ย ย ย 
  • Remote Clinicalย Counselorsย must meet the standards of professional and ethical conduct prescribed by theirย particular disciplineย or licensing board andย demonstrateย current clinical competence through at least periodic, direct service clinical experience during the 2 years preceding hire.ย 
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgroundsย 
  • Proficiencyย in oral and written communication skillsย 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite software and skilled in the use of office softwareย ย 
  • Must have a dedicated professionalย workspace thatย that provides a secure, private environment suitable for telehealth clinical services and is free of distractions or personal commitments during the workday.ย ย ย ย 
  • Must be physicallyย locatedย withinย a reasonable commuting distance ofย a militaryย installation.ย 
  • Must be able to work core business hoursย ofย the assigned area of responsibility.ย 
  • Must be ableย to flex hours in times of surge or crisis.

Preferred Qualificationsย 

  • Experienceย working with wounded warriors, medically impacted families, or military populationsย ย 
  • Experience supporting clients navigating complex medical systems.ย ย 
  • Live local toย the area of responsibility.ย 
  • Knowledge of the difficulties of adjusting to general life stresses as well as those resulting from the requirements of military life, and experience providing short-term counseling for those issuesย 
  • Knowledge of standard documentation requirements for clinical servicesย 
  • Knowledge of available military and community referral resourcesย 
  • Experienceย working in a virtual environment and competency in telehealth clinical service deliveryย
