Job description

Job Title: Remote Physical Therapist
Classification: 1099 Independent Contractor
Work Structure: Fully Remote
Location: United States (AZ, CO, MO, OH, VA, DC, NY, NC, TN, NJ preferred)
License Requirements: Active PT license in a PT Compact member state
About BreatheSuite
BreatheSuite delivers virtual pulmonary rehabilitation to patients with chronic lung conditions across the country. Our mission is to make quality pulmonary rehabilitation accessible, empowering patients to take control of their respiratory health from the comfort of their own homes. We use a multidisciplinary model - PTs, respiratory therapists, and nurse practitioners - supported by a remote therapeutic monitoring platform built specifically for this population.
The Role
We're looking for experienced Physical Therapists to join our remote care team as 1099 contractors. You'll be working with a medically complex population - primarily COPD, ILD, and other chronic lung conditions - conducting functional assessments and developing individualized strategies to help patients move better through breathing strategies, activity pacing, strengthening, and cardiovascular exercise. Pulmonary-specific experience is not required. Our compensated onboarding program covers the pathophysiology, symptom management principles, and treatment strategies you need to work confidently with this population before you see your first patient.
What You'll Do
  • Conduct telehealth evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans
  • Deliver 1-on-1 virtual treatment sessions (30, 45, or 60 minutes based on patient need) focused on functional mobility, strength, endurance, and activity tolerance
  • Write Plans of Care and communicate with referring providers as needed
  • Monitor patient progress using BreatheSuite's RTM platform and adjust programming based on symptom response and data trends
  • Collaborate with respiratory therapists and nurse practitioners on complex cases
  • Educate patients on breathing strategies, activity pacing, and lifestyle factors affecting respiratory health
  • Document accurately and on time using BreatheSuite's EMR and Therapist Dashboard

Qualifications
  • Active PT license in a PT Compact member state (required - allows multi-state practice)
  • DPT from an accredited program
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical experience; background in geriatrics, home health, cardiopulmonary, or outpatient preferred
  • Comfortable working independently with patients, including direct access cases without a physician referral
  • Comfortable with or able to learn telehealth platforms, EMR systems, and remote monitoring tools
  • Familiarity with outpatient PT billing preferred
  • Access to a computer with webcam and microphone, and reliable internet connection
  • Minimum availability of 8 hours per week; 16+ hours preferred with consistent weekly availability

Why BreatheSuite
  • Flexibility: Set your own schedule and work from anywhere in the US.
  • Compensation: Competitive per-session rates, regionally adjusted to Medicare rates. Evaluations, re-evaluations, and treatment sessions compensated by session type and duration. No productivity quotas. PTs can also increase earnings through Remote Therapeutic Monitoring - RTM is tied to patient engagement, giving you a straightforward path to higher compensation. Monthly bonus opportunities available.
  • Work-Life Balance: No commute, no set hours. Our team handles insurance authorizations and new patient scheduling so you can focus on patient care.
  • Onboarding: Compensated onboarding through BreatheSuite University covers telehealth delivery, EMR navigation, and the clinical background you need for this population - so you're prepared on day one.
  • Support: A multidisciplinary clinical team and dedicated customer success staff provide clinical collaboration, technology support, and direct patient assistance - so admin and tech barriers don't get in the way of care.

To Apply
Upload your resume to be considered. We prefer candidates located in AZ, CO, MO, OH, VA, DC, NY, NC, TN, and NJ, though all PTs licensed in a PT Compact member state are encouraged to apply.
BreatheSuite is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all contractors.
