Job description

Electrical Engineer / Designer (Remote โ€“ 5+ Years Experience)

Location: Remote (U.S. based)

Industry: Commercial Building Design

Job Type: Full-Time

Experience Level: Mid-Level (5+ Years)

Schedule: Full-Time, Remote

About the Role:

Weโ€™re partnering with a well-established electrical design and consulting firm thatโ€™s growing their remote team. This position is ideal for a skilled electrical designer or engineer with at least 5 years of experience delivering commercial building projects in fast-paced environments.

Youโ€™ll work on a steady pipeline of small to mid-sized projectsโ€”think retail, restaurants, hospitality, and other tenant buildoutsโ€”with timelines that range from just a few days to several months. The pace is quick, the work is consistent, and the culture is all about collaboration, ownership, and trust.

What Youโ€™ll Do:

  • Lead the design of electrical systems (lighting, power distribution, panel schedules, emergency systems, etc.) using AutoCAD and/or Revit
  • Apply NEC standards and ensure all designs meet applicable codes
  • Coordinate with clients, internal teams, and consultants to deliver on-schedule and within scope
  • Use Excel-based templates for load calculations, voltage drops, and other internal workflows
  • Participate in project kickoff, design reviews, and QA/QC processes
  • Mentor junior staff where applicable and support process improvement

What Weโ€™re Looking For:

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical design for commercial building projects
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; Revit experience preferred
  • Solid understanding of NEC (National Electrical Code)
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills and comfort working independently
  • PE license is a plus but not required
  • U.S. work authorization required

Why This Team?

  • Remote-first flexibility โ€“ no office requirement
  • Small-firm feel with national reach โ€“ collaborative, lean, and low-bureaucracy
  • Work on 400+ projects/year, from 3-day quick hits to multi-month builds
  • Team culture focused on project ownership, problem-solving, and autonomy
  • Opportunity to grow into leadership or specialty roles over time

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Salary range: $75Kโ€“$100K, depending on experience and licensure
  • 100% company-paid health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability (employee)
  • 60% company-paid dependent health coverage
  • 3% 401(k) Safe Harbor contribution + profit-sharing
  • 3 weeks PTO, flexible and manager-discretion based
  • Biannual bonus opportunities tied to performance and profitability
