Job description

Title: Merchant Onboarding & Activation Specialist

Location: Remote

Duration: 3 Months (Contract)

Description

Role Summary

Owns end-to-end merchant activation for our client’s $12 Meal Box program after a deal is signed — taking a merchant from signed agreement through a fully live menu with our client. This is a hands-on, technical activation role centered on POS configuration, menu/photo uploads, and persistent merchant follow-up, distinct from our client’s pre-sales (deal-closing) and post-sales (account management) roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and validate submitted merchant menu items against SKU/menu approval criteria (Slack: #menu_approval-meal-boxes)
  • Coordinate and troubleshoot photoshoots via Snappr or Ocus — rescheduling, quality issues, and vendor escalations
  • Upload menu items and photos into DIME and directly into POS systems (Toast, Otter, Square, Urban Piper, Clover) for both tablet and POS merchants
  • Lead merchant onboarding calls to confirm activation steps, timing, and expectations
  • Own the unresponsive-merchant follow-up cadence — structured multi-week call/email outreach, escalation, and churn documentation
  • Maintain accuracy in sales trackers (status, touches, dates, notes in SKU Pipeline and Mx Activations Tracker)
  • Escalate POS-specific technical issues through the #affordable-meals-pos-questions Slack ticketing workflow
  • QA merchants once live (menu, pricing, photos, $12 Meals visibility) and notify stakeholders
  • Post activation status/wins to cross-functional Slack channels (project-meal-boxes, mealbox-sales)

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Restaurant / food & beverage (F&B) industry experience — flagged by Camdyn as likely more predictive of success in this role than formal education
  • Hands-on experience with restaurant/retail POS systems (Toast, Square, Clover, Otter, Urban Piper, or similar) - comfortable navigating multiple POS back-ends
  • Prior merchant/customer-facing onboarding, activation, or implementation support experience (e.g., restaurant tech, POS support, SaaS onboarding, or similar CW activation programs)
  • Strong phone and email outreach skills — persistent, professional follow-up with non-responsive contacts
  • Detail-oriented data entry and tracker management (accuracy across large, multi-column spreadsheets)
  • Comfortable in Slack-based, ticket/escalation-driven workflows
  • Able to multi-task across a high-volume pipeline of merchants at different activation stages

Nice to have:

  • Prior exposure to our client’s Merchant Portal, DIME, or Snappr, or similar marketplace activation tooling

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is a must
