Position Summary

The Franchise Business Consultant is responsible for helping franchisees acquire, develop, and continuously improve their ability to operate successful and profitable RMCF locations. Working closely with cross-functional partners, this role supports franchisees in understanding their financial performance, developing actionable business plans, and driving sustainable same-store sales growth. The ideal candidate combines strong financial acumen with hands-on franchise field experience and is equally comfortable analyzing an income statement and coaching a franchisee on the sales floor.

Key Responsibilities

The Franchise Business Consultant will be expected to consistently deliver outstanding outcomes in the following areas:

  1. Serve as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of 138+ RMCF franchised retail stores, maintaining regular communication through phone support, virtual meetings, and periodic on-site visits.
  2. Partner with cross-functional teams (Finance, Operations, Marketing, Training) to deliver coordinated franchisee support and align on performance improvement strategies.
  3. Analyze franchisee financial statements, including income statements and balance sheets, and translate findings into clear, actionable guidance.
  4. Develop, document, and support store-level annual business planning, including goal setting and execution of performance improvement strategies.
  5. Evaluate underperforming stores, identify specific weaknesses, and build turnaround plans in collaboration with the franchisee.
  6. Train and coach franchisees across all areas of store operations: customer service, merchandising, marketing, chocolate-making, personnel management, payroll, inventory, cost of goods, and expense control.
  7. Ensure each franchisee meets RMCF standards for customer service, cleanliness, product quality, packaging, and merchandising.
  8. Create financial metrics, reports, and presentations for franchisees and internal stakeholders.
  9. Participate in and lead virtual franchisee presentations, webinars, and online meetings.
  10. Travel to franchise locations to provide on-site business support; complete written follow-up after each visit.
  11. Responsible for new store openings as assigned (typically 5 full days on-site).
  12. Travel to and evaluate potential new RMCF sites as requested.
  13. Support planning and execution of the Annual Franchisee Convention, including content development and data analysis.
  14. Participate in Regional Meetings, Luncheons, and other brand events.
  15. Assist the VP of Franchise Business Support with cross-departmental initiatives and special projects.
  16. Help standardize reporting tools, templates, and best practices for franchisee financial analysis.
  17. Contribute to company communications.
  18. Assist in the revision of company operational manuals as requested.

This role requires financial acumen, business planning, coaching and influence, analytical problem-solving communication and presentation skills, project management and the adaptability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, travel intense environment.

Education, Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of franchise industry related experience in franchise support/operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret financial statements and build business plans.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Salesforce and Power BI is a plus.
  • Ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for a non-finance audience.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and influence skills; comfortable working directly with franchisees and presenting to groups.
  • Well organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.
  • Ability to learn quickly and solve new problems creatively.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to adapt as the business evolves.
  • Ability to negotiate and resolve differences professionally and constructively.
  • Willingness to travel up to 60% of the time.  

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT

  • Primarily remote office environment requiring prolonged periods of sitting, working on a computer, and participating in virtual meetings. 
  • Frequent travel (up to 60%) by automobile and commercial airline to franchise locations, meetings, conventions and training events.
  • Ability to navigate retail store environments, including standing and walking for extended periods during site visits, store evaluations, training, and new store openings.
  • Ability to occasionally lift, carry, and move materials, equipment, or product displays weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach above waist level and overhead, grasp small objects, use cooking utensils and specialized confectionary tools and maneuver throughout retail and production areas as needed to observe operations and provide coaching.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of environments, including office settings, retail stores, manufacturing/showroom areas, and event venues.
  • Ability to travel overnight and work occasional evenings or weekends in support of store openings, franchise events, conventions, and business needs.
