Business Director: Capital One Shopping (Remote-Eligible)

We are looking for a Business Director to join our team to improve and integrate new product, process, and revenue opportunities and drive cross-functional execution within Shopping. This Business Director will have a demonstrated interest and aptitude for AI native development. While formal on-the-job experience with AI is a plus, we highly value candidates who have proactively incorporated AI into their personal projects, explored AI-driven development environments (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot), or built automations using AI agents. Show us how you've used AI to learn, build, and solve problems beyond basic text generation.

As a Business Director at Capital One, you will apply your strategic and analytical skills to major company challenges. General Responsibilities:

  • Strategic leadership: Develop business strategies that will drive growth, profitability, and competitive success for Capital One in the face of shifting consumer and regulatory demands

  • Leadership: May manage and develop multiple analysts. Coaching and mentoring associates with a goal of developing and retaining talent at Capital One.

  • Technology Product Development and Process Management: Develop and implement new processes and tooling, working directly with engineering to create tools for forecasting, monitoring, automated resolution of a broad array of ; lead product level data modeling/analytics

  • Balance of scaled and hands on delivery of business intent, build business requirements and execute against the business strategy. Oversee multiple projects and programs concurrently, leading some efforts as a high level individual contributor and others through the team

  • Partnership: Work closely with colleagues across Capital One including: Software Engineer (your teams closest partners), Sales, Operations, Product Manager, Finance and others to drive improvement in quality, volume, service, and profitability

  • Strategic; analytic orientation: A proven track record of decision making and problem solving based on analytics. Conceptual thinking skills must be complemented by a strong quantitative orientation, given that a large part of the business is based on rigorous analytics

  • strong business judgment, leadership, and integrity: They should be a tenacious decision maker, able to bring a healthy, aggressive, yet responsible approach to business.

  • Bias for action, keen sense of the "critical path", extreme focus, and sense of urgency: The right candidate has demonstrated experience solving complex challenges in a fraction of the time most competent people believe is possible without needing to work "more"

  • Solid people leadership experience: Ability to build and leverage the capabilities of a high-performing team, as well as business partners across the enterprise. They should foster innovation, drive critical decisions, hold business partners accountable, and be able to consistently deliver results

  • Strong executive communication skills: Impeccable written and oral communication credentials, coupled with strategic influencing skills and the ability to drive agreement through intellect, interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Clear results orientation: display an intense focus on achieving both short and long term goals. They should be able to independently identify opportunities for leverage, drive and execute an agenda in an uncertain and fluid environment

  • Successful track record of thriving in a fast paced, entrepreneurial and dynamic environment. Previous growth stage technology experience with escalating responsibility is a plus

BasicQualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • At least 4 years of experience performing quantitative analysis

  • At least 4 years of experience performing qualitative analysis

  • At least 2 years of experience performing people management

  • At least 2 years of experience performing project management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree

  • 2+ years of experience in financial services

  • 1+ year of experience in consulting

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York, NY: $251,400 - $286,900 for Business Director


Remote (Regardless of Location): $209,500 - $239,100 for Business Director


McLean, VA: $230,400 - $263,000 for Business Director









Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
