**EXPERIENCE WRITING FOR A MEDICAL COMMUNICATIONS COMPANY IS REQUIRED**

Our Senior Medical Writers have an important role in the development and delivery of scientifically accurate content for our clients' projects, helping to ensure all work is aligned with client objectives and budgetary requirements.

They are adept at adapting content and style according to client objectives across a variety of target audiences and subject areas, as well as liaising with a range of medical experts. They keep up to date with different therapeutic areas, publication practices and both company and industry guidelines and processes. They mentor junior writers in all aspects of the business and review other writers' projects.

Main roles & responsibilities:

  • Take ownership and responsibility for development and final delivery of scientifically accurate content aligned with client objectives, budgetary and schedule requirements
  • Prepare copy for a broad range of medical communication projects that meet grammatical and scientific accuracy and client objectives
    • this may include abstracts, scientific posters, manuscripts, slide decks, medical affairs deliverables, commercial and promotional content, interactive and digital components
  • Contribute to the development of product strategy, publication plans and scientific statements
  • Attending kick-off and download calls with internal teams and clients for new projects while providing strategic, editorial, and budgetary specification where needed
  • Take responsibility for sign off for print/production/submission, ensuring all appropriate permissions and client amends are in place
  • Provide guidance and scientific direction for creative designs and input into concept development
  • Develop robust working relationships with clients and external thought leaders to establish and maintain strong relationships and advocacy
  • Ensure that junior writers are coached and mentored to give due attention to detail and scientific accuracy
  • Provide ongoing support, mentoring and constructive feedback to junior team members to aid professional development and ensure quality standards
  • Research and contribute to the writing of new business proposals and pitch presentations
  • Contribute to and attend new business pitches to demonstrate our depth and breadth of scientific/editorial expertise

Requirements

  • A life sciences degree, ideally combined with a science Masters or PhD
  • 3+ years writing for pharmaceutical clients in an agency setting
  • Ability to write across a broad range of projects and/or therapy areas or the willingness and interest in taking learning curves
  • Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to manage people, share feedback and manage expectations in a timely and professional manner
  • Strong understanding of industry guidelines as they relate to content development, proper referencing, journal/congress guidelines and best practices
  • Ability to accurately interpret clinical and scientific data across various audiences
  • Ability to comprehend medical literature and offer critical appraisal
  • Experience attending and supporting clients at scientific meetings (congresses, symposia, advisory boards, etc.) a plus!
  • Solid time, project and budget management skills
  • Proficiency in MS365 including Word, PPT, Excel, Outlook and Teams
