Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Surgery Medical Coder to join our team. This role is primarily remote, but candidates must live close enough to Indianapolis, IN to attend minimal onsite training and occasional in-person meetings as needed. The ideal candidate will have coding experience in a surgical specialty environment and hold an active coding certification.


PLEASE NOTE: One of the following certifications is required:

  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
  • Certified Coding Specialist โ€“ Physician-based (CCS-P)
  • Certified Orthopedic Surgery Coder (COSC)



Hours: Monday - Friday, 8am -5pm


Responsibilities for the position include the following:

  • Review and accurately code surgical procedures, diagnoses, and related services
  • Ensure coding compliance with payer, regulatory, and organizational guidelines
  • Analyze medical documentation to assign appropriate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes
  • Work closely with providers and staff to clarify documentation as needed
  • Maintain productivity and accuracy standards in a remote work environment
  • Support billing and reimbursement processes through precise code assignment
  • Participate in minimal onsite training sessions and periodic team meetings
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Specialty training beyond high school preferred
  • 1โ€“2 years of related experience required
  • 2โ€“4 years of related experience preferred

One of the following certifications is required:
