Job Requirements

Position Summary

Cardiac Device Specialist monitors all pacemaker patients either remotely or face to face visits.  Coordinates with Murj to ensure all patient data is compliant.  Communicates directly with cardiologists to determine best plan of care for patients.  

Minimum Requirements

Education

• High School Diploma

Experience

• 2 years of customer service experience

 

License/Registration/Certifications

• N/A

Preferred Education

• BS Degree

Preferred Experience

• 3-5 years medical office experience

 

Preferred License/Registration/Certifications

• HRS certificate, ATI certificate or BS degree

 

Core Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for performing interrogations, interpretation, and programming Pacemakers and Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICD)

• Uses device company sites to transfer patient data and completes reports for the physicians and patient medical record

• Uses device manufacturer programmers to interrogate and adjust devices under physician supervision

• Performs clinic and remote interrogations and device management according to established protocol under the supervision of a physician

• Recognizes, documents and reports basic abnormal findings to provider for appropriate assistance

• Prepares standardized remote reports for provider review and interpretation

• Educates patients and families regarding device function, clinic follow-up scheduling and device home monitoring

• Enrolls new patients and transfers into appropriate remote monitoring site

• Manages clerical tasks associated with device clinic functioning

• Schedule patients for appropriate clinic, remote, and provider appointments as needed

• Change, cancel, and enter new orders into Epic as needed

• Appropriate documentation in Epic of patient communication and follow-up

• Completes encounter and ensures correct billing and coding of device checks

• Identifies opportunities to enhance workflows in collaboration with clinic leadership

• Develop operating policies and procedures
