Job description

Wisconsin Gas, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking a Gas SCADA Engineer in our Pewaukee, Wisconsin location. This position currently offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on-site) with time regularly spent in the Pewaukee office.

This position is part of a job family (Associate Engineer, Engineer, Senior Engineer and Principal Engineer) where experience will be the determining factor.

Job Summary

This engineer is responsible for engineering assignments of moderate scope and complexity on a variety of projects and assignments in support of both field and staff roles.  These responsibilities may include: engineering support for SCADA and process control projects for pressure monitoring, pressure controls, flow monitoring, and flow controls, remote control valves, process control, HMI systems, field device communications, specifications, and programming.

Job Responsibilities
  • Analysis and recommendations of design options, recommendations for SCADA components, preparation of SCADA engineering designs, material and specifications and cost estimates, review of internal and external construction plans and implementation of construction activities for more complex projects.  Senior Engineers performs more complex engineering designs, engineering calculations and SCADA system modifications.  Leads Root Cause Analysis activities.
  • Provide engineering support for SCADA and process control projects for pressure monitoring, pressure controls, flow monitoring, and flow controls, remote control valves, process control, HMI systems, field device communications, specifications, and programming
  • Properly applies codes, standards and regulations to relevant tasks, designs and projects.  Ensure compliance with guidelines, best practices, standards, and regulatory authorities (TSA, API, PHMSA, DOT, NFPA, etc.).  Generate various reports to regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Knowledgeable of design basis for system responsibilities.  Understands and utilizes knowledge of interconnected systems to troubleshoot and improve performance.  Utilizes performance monitoring/optimization tools, calculations, tests and engineering analysis to develop recommendations to maintain and improve plant, system and/or equipment performance, efficiency and reliability.
  • Provides support to operations and engineering related to process control equipment installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Execute change manage process for implementing changes in the control system environment. 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering

This position requires unescorted access to certain critical cyber assets which would require applicants to satisfy all Company and NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection Standard 004 security requirements, which includes a background investigation.

  • Familiarity with relational databases
  • VB and SQL programming knowledge
  • Gas distribution knowledge or experience

Pay Range Minimum:  $68,436.68 

Pay Range Maximum:  $156,125.32 

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.  At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
