Job description

This exempt role can be remote or based out of a Prism Vision Group location.

Compensation Range: $75.000.00 - $85,000.00 (Dependent on Experience)

The Clinical Research Recruiter I (CRR) is responsible for supporting centralized patient recruitment and pre-screening activities across Prism Vision Group's network of ophthalmology research sites. The CRR partners with research coordinators, physicians, office staff, and sponsors to identify potential clinical trial participants, conduct preliminary qualification reviews, and facilitate timely referral of eligible patients to site research teams. The role plays a critical part in achieving enrollment goals through proactive outreach, accurate documentation, and consistent follow-up with prospective participants.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Conduct centralized patient recruitment and pre-screening activities for clinical research studies across Prism Vision Group. 
  • Review referral opportunities, patient records, scheduling reports, and other recruitment sources to identify potential research candidates. 
  • Perform protocol-specific pre-screening to assess patient eligibility based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. 
  • Contact prospective participants via phone, text, email, and other approved communication methods to discuss research opportunities. 
  • Ensure timely follow-up on all referral opportunities and patient inquiries. 
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of recruitment activities within approved systems and databases. 
  • Track recruitment metrics, screening outcomes, enrollment conversions, and site performance indicators. 
  • Generate recruitment reports and provide updates to leadership, site teams, sponsors, and other stakeholders as needed. 
  • Collaborate with research coordinators, investigators, physicians, and office staff to support enrollment strategies and patient engagement initiatives. 
  • Participate in study kickoff meetings and develop recruitment summaries outlining eligibility criteria, target patient populations, outreach strategies, and enrollment goals. 
  • Escalate recruitment barriers, enrollment concerns, and operational issues to leadership as appropriate. 
  • Support implementation of new recruitment initiatives, technologies, workflows, and process improvement efforts. 
  • Participate in department, site, cross-functional, and sponsor meetings as required. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

Knowledge 

  • Knowledge of clinical research processes, GCP guidelines, FDA regulations, and medical terminology. 
  • Understanding of patient recruitment, patient retention, and enrollment strategies within clinical research. 
  • Knowledge of ophthalmology clinical research preferred. 
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical records and patient database systems. 
  • Experience reviewing patient charts to identify potential clinical trial candidates. 

Skills

  • 2-3 years of experience in patient recruitment, clinical research recruitment, healthcare outreach, clinical research coordination, or a related healthcare role.
  • Experience conducting patient-facing communications and screening activities.

Preferred

  • Previous experience in a dedicated patient recruitment role.
  • Experience supporting clinical trial enrollment efforts.
  • Ophthalmology research experience preferred.
  • Experience working across multiple sites or within a research network.
Certifications / Education

  • Associate's degree in healthcare, life sciences, business, communications, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
