Job Description:

Reporting to the Global Project Generation Manager; the Senior Exploration Geologist is part of SSR's greenfields exploration team and collaborates with other departments of the company. You will play an important role in leading geological practices in terms of target generation, property evaluation, exploration planning, litho-structural mapping, 3D implicit modelling, interpretations of models, and QA/QC in compliance with SSR's best practices (including highest HSEC standards).

The Day to Day:

  • Assist with definition, evaluation and advancement of exploration targets across company portfolio; advancing the understanding of mine, near-mine and regional geology as a key part of the resource discovery process.
  • Conduct regional target generation including desktop research and fieldwork, using multi-disciplinary datasets and targeting criteria to identify precious metals projects
  • Actively review industry projects on a regional level by providing technical advice regarding exploration opportunities, geological models and controls on mineralization
  • Acting as a technical leader within the team and providing guidance, mentorship, and training to junior geologists and technicians
  • Lead geological mapping and prospecting programs in the field, prepare geological maps, drill sections and 3D models utilizing GIS and 3D modeling software
  • Contribute to database management and QA/QC
  • Demonstrate leadership in safety, stewardship of the environment & cultural heritage and effective stakeholder engagement
  • Travel extensively when required.

Is This You?

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology. A Master's degree in Geology would be considered an asset.
  • Minimum 7-10 years experience in exploration.
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment.
  • Strong background in litho-structural mapping
  • Experience working in orogenic, epithermal and carlin gold systems
  • Proficient user of GIS software (experience in ArcPRO would be considered and asset)
  • Proficiency with Leapfrog Geo (or equivalent 3D modelling software) is required
  • Competence in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access)
  • Strong ability to effectively communicate both oral and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team.

Our Working Conditions:

This position has a varied schedule. During active drilling and field programs, a 2-3 week rotation based out of our remote exploration camps will be required. During off seasons, a Monday to Friday schedule is in effect. An ability to travel internationally is required.

This position can be based out of Canada or Colorado, USA. For applicants residing in CO, the salary range for this role is from $110,000-$130,000. Benefits: 401(k); medical/dental/vision insurance; employee share purchase plan, PTO, and STI.
